  • Love Yourself!

We Want To Hear From YOU!

This morning I want to talk to you about self-love. Believers have been tricked into believing self-love is selfish and nothing can be further from the truth.

The truth is THE WORLD has warped every perception of the definition of love.

We think that to love God just simply means to believe he exists and be nice to others.

We think loving our family and others means we have to give of ourselves til we are drained physically, emotionally, and financially.

And finally, we believe anyone bold enough to proclaim self-love only loves themselves.

  • Don't Let False Religions & Deceivers Keep You From God

We Want To Hear From YOU!

God has blatantly challenged me to walk into all that he has ordained for me regarding my ministerial charge.

I have been charged to reach out to those who have been deceived by false religion, those who have been disfellowshipped and shunned.

Those of you who follow me know I don’t do ministry seeking any accolades, followers, money or fame. I am not looking to live off the ministry God has called me to walk in.  God got me.

I have seen several post online where people have been raked over the coals by false doctrine, cults and dysfunctional religions.  And because of how they have been treated in the name of God, they have turned their back on God, and denounced their belief in Him or their ability to trust Him

This is my public service announcement, God is still God, He is still the creator of all things, he is still the Alpha and Omega, he still loves you and the truth is He created you with purpose.

The greatest gift God gave to man also proves to be the biggest detriment to man and that is free will.  Some use their free will to deceive others and others use their free will to put their trust in man instead of God.......

  • The Stinky Stuff

We Want To Hear From YOU!

Jesus turns to Mary and says “Where have you laid him”.  Mary and Martha, along with those who were there to console them led Jesus to the tomb

Jesus said “Roll away the stone”

It is imperative that you understand that in the Jewish culture at that time, they did not embalm the body of the dead, they would put aromatic spice in the layers and folds of the cloth used to wrap the body.

But as you can imagine over time even the aromatic spices no long would hold back the stench of a dead body.  As a matter of fact, Marther said to Jesus, “Lord by this time there is a stench for he has been dead 4 days”.

Jesus’ response to her was a faith-provoking question, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe, you would see the glory of God”.

What Jesus was essentially saying is your faith has to be able to endure and believe God is able to get past the stinky stuff.

We have to be willing to deal with and get past the stinky stuff in our lives so that the glory of God can be manifested fully.

Now I am not talking about just the stinky stuff that people have done or said to you.  I AM TALKING ABOUT the stinky stuff concerning how you have chosen to deal with failure and disappointment.  I AM TALKING ABOUT dealing with your own stinky stuff, your ungodly attitude, bitterness, your true intentions, and your disregard concerning the wills and ways of God.

All the stinky stuff that we tend to cover up with aromatic spices, with excuses, with blame.  To get to the resurrection of some things in our lives, we are going to have to roll back the stones.  You know that tough persona we have created, that wall of protection, the wall of sarcasm, that wall of pride, jealousy, resentment, and unforgiveness.  We have to roll back the stones and really deal with all the stinky stuff.

  • Age Is Nothing But A Number

We Want To Hear From YOU!

Our human minds have been tainted with predispositions concerning age.  We are quick to assume someone is too young for this or too old for that.

Our Bibles tend to tell a different story.  Our Bibles provide us with insight that proclaims loud and clear that AGE IS NOTHING BUT A NUMBER.

We tend to boast the ages in the middle of what we gauge as young and old as being the best years of our lives.  Now, if we were honest with ourselves that middle age span is where we make the biggest mistakes and exalt the most sins against God.

Come on you know in our 20s we are like teenagers on steroids, in our 30s the concept of complete freedom from parental guidance has us in such a foolish state of mind that our mistakes and sins are made solely from nurturing an attitude of arrogance

And then in our 40s our priorities begin to shift, but our new refined character tends to also boast a tint of self-centeredness birthed out of disappointments and life’s hiccups,  making us boldly announcing with a shade of entitlement, I’m just going to do me.

As we approach 50 and settle into our 60s and 70s -  wisdom, balance, and the residue of many life lessons began to guide and guard us.

But the problem with this is oftentimes at this age, we allow what we have lived through to guide and guard us too much as we begin discounting possibilities and counting down our days left as opposed to God's “purposed” plan being still in effect.

The lifeline I have just journeyed through with you is indicative of a journey of mindsets that are absent of or sometimes inconsistent concerning one’s commitment to God.

Have no fear we have all been inconsistent in our faith walk at one time or another.  We all have had to revamp, recalculate, realign, and reset at various points in life.

The first lesson of maturity we will learn today is that a mature mind seeks the heart and Word of God. And in doing so, we come to realize and admit we are out of alignment and then we inhale Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind”

The one thing we know is the absolute truth about our youth is that it is a time when we tend to be more fearless than we will ever be in our life. Why?  Because….

The young think outside of boundaries.  The young have a grand imagination and an attitude that says they are unstoppable, invincible.

The sad commentary is the older we get the more we look a the characteristic of the young and discount them as silly, foolish, and immature.

But let’s hear the words of scripture In Matthew 18:1-5 Jesus says “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of a child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

God looks at the characteristics of the young and He desires us to have and maintain these characteristics.

  • It's Time To Earn Your Keep

We Want To Hear From YOU!

How many of you have ever gone on a travel excursion or cruise.  Those of you who have, understand that excursions and cruises have to be paid for upfront in their entirety before departure.  We have to look at our eternity in the Kingdom of Heaven in the same light, we have a prepayment plan in place, and we need to earn our keep for eternal access to the Kingdom of Heaven

Jesus’ final instruction to His followers was to  (Matthew 28:19–20)“go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age”

We know from reading the book of Acts that the disciples did just that. After the Holy Spirit descended upon them, they began to proclaim God’s message boldly (Acts 2:4). God gave them the supernatural ability to speak in other languages so that people from many foreign lands heard the good news (Acts 2:6). Those people believed and then took God’s message of salvation back to their homelands, and the gospel spread.

Despite attacks throughout history to annihilate Christianity, the message of the gospel continues to spread as lives are transformed by the love of Jesus. There are missionaries who have left everything to travel into difficult regions to bring the good news to the natives there.

Through personal evangelism, radio, television, the internet, literature, and many other means, people around the world are hearing of Jesus’ salvation and responding. We hear of Muslims in closed countries receiving visions and dreams wherein Jesus appears to them and they are convinced of His identity as the Son of God.

Yet, as the world’s population expands, so does the number of unreached people. Despite the efforts of the church, millions of people have still never heard about Jesus or have never embraced the Gospel because of a lack of exposure to good solid teaching.

Another reason much of the world remains unevangelized is the apathy among many Christians. The words of James may apply to those of us who are wealthy compared to the rest of the world: (James 5:1–5) “Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver have corroded, and their corrosion will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure in the last days. . . . You have lived on the earth in luxury and in self-indulgence” .

Those are harsh words to our ears, but we should examine ourselves to see if they apply to our attitudes.

  • Under Reconstruction: THE RESTORATION PROCESS

We Want To Hear From YOU!

No one could see what Tim saw in that old house. They saw brokenness; he saw potential. They saw chipped paint, falling gutters, and a leaky roof–not to mention dirt everywhere and enough cobwebs to catch an ant farm. He saw the builder’s original intent–and what that house could one day be.

Others couldn’t understand why Tim worked hour after hour, nailing in broken pieces, sanding down the chipped paint. His hands often got splinters or ached from his labors, but he didn’t stop. He spent lots of money, but he didn’t care. He saw not what was, but what would be–and that house had been made to shine.

You see, Tim knew something the others didn’t. He knew what the house had been built to be…because he’d built it. A terrible disaster had destroyed the home many years back, but Tim wouldn’t give up on that old house.

It took years–one could even say a lifetime–but one-day others saw it too. No one could recognize the elegant mansion the once-forsaken home.

1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

  • A Selfish Kind of Love

We Want To Hear From YOU!

How many of you, know what it is like to get caught up in an unsavory relationship because the foundation of that relationship was built on a foundation of how someone made you feel and how you made them feel rather than who they were and who you are at your core. This is an example of a relationship based on superficial mutual selfishness.

The thing about the human species is that we are creatures of habit, which is why we have all been guilty of professing our belief and love in God the same way, based on how God makes us feel and what He has done for us rather than who He is at His core.

Thank God, He doesn’t define His love for us based on how we make Him feel or how often we make Him smile or feel good enough to brag about us.

Think about this for a moment God has viewed the videotape of all our lives, He know every decision we will make in life, every mistake, every time we will be presented with the opportunity to present the Gospel and don’t and with all that in-depth information He knows about us, He still loves us.

See God’s love for us is unconditional. God is selfless with His love.  Can we be honest for a moment, if God were to base His love for us solely on what we do for Him, in His name, imagine how shattered His love for us would be.

True love has no contingencies.  1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Now I am not saying nor is the scripture indicating that true love should be acceptant of disrespect, verbal or physical abuse, violations of vows, or anything that degrades or compromises one’s integrity or God-ordained purpose.

Romans 12:9-10 “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves”

  • Sorry, If you were deceived.

We Want To Hear From YOU!

I am sorry you may have been deceived. If any of you were told that giving your life to Christ makes your life easier, you were deceived

You thought by giving your life to Christ everything you now asked God for was going to begin falling from the sky, you were deceived.

I am sorry if you accepted Christ thinking you would never shed another tear, never have your heart broken, never be angry, or never be tempted by sin again.

Is giving your life to Christ, Fulfilling, yes! Joyful, absolutely!

But easier? Absolutely not. In some ways, life gets more difficult after we come to Christ. The struggle against sin, laziness, gluttony, swearing, anger, envy, self-centeredness, materialism, covetousness, and sexual sin seems never-ending.

The world, the flesh, and the devil don’t go away because we have stepped into a relationship with Christ.

Accepting Christ as Savior means we receive instant justification before God, but not the world. Romans 10:10 “For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth, one confesses and is saved”. Accepting Christ as our Savior gives us divine and legal rights and privileges as sons or daughters of God, Romans 8:17 tells us we are joint heirs with Christ.

  • Measuring Up

We Want To Hear From YOU!

Have you ever thought about how obvious it is how into measurements God really is?  The entire chapter of Ezekiel 40 focuses on measurements.  We see in the scriptures when Noah was building the ark, the specific measurement and materials details.

In Zechariah 4:10 God measures and makes reference to small things vs big things as the scripture read, “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin”

For the truth is no one who understands God, His capabilities, power, and plan look down on small things, for the same understanding of God recognizes that small things come before the big things. Perfect example; regardless of the size or age of a tree it started with a seed.

When we measure a thing or compare size, we use a fixed proportion as the standard.  Measuring is judging or basing something against a standard, to see how accommodating something will be for the space, or in its ability to meet the desired goal.

God’s display and usage of measurement show us that He is not only divine but detail-orientated, the measurement of standards matters to Him.  Measurements are used to create patterns and templates.

Judgment Day is all about the measure of a person’s ability to comply with the pattern and templates outlined by God, and it's according to their patterns and templates that will determine if one's measurements are fit for the Kingdom of God.

God looks at and considers the details of measurements and our hearts.
