  • SOULED OUT: No room, no vacancies

We Want To Hear From YOU!

    Why Satan wants our soul?

It really does not require a deep explanation, it’s really simple.  Our soul is our absolute connection to God, the one thing Satan detests.  See if we keep our souls in proper perspective with God, we will turn from him. And not only will we turn from him we will be committed in the spreading, teaching and exaltation of the Gospel,  so you see how this would annihilate Satan’s agenda, how if believers, those who profess to love God, keep their souls in check we could collectively tear Satan’s Kingdom down.

Our souls are like bombs, if detonated could blow up Satan’s world, so he operates like the bomb squad using every tactic possible to get to our souls so that he can disarm us before we have a chance to take part in an explosion that would kill his whole agenda.

The great Shirley Caesar has a song entitled Satan we’re going to tear your Kingdom down.  The lyrics go like this: The Preachers are gonna preach Your kingdom down. The mothers are gonna pray, Pray, your kingdom down.

Pastor Caesar issued a bomb threat to Satan as the closing line of the song tell him You've been building your kingdom All in the house of God Satan, we're gonna tear Your kingdom down.

We have to take the condition of our souls seriously, because if we don’t we will hand deliver our very soul to Satan as a gift wrapped with a bow.

If you know someone is plotting against your demise, has hatred in your heart for you, I don’t care how saved and sanctified you are, if you must be in their presence you are on guard, you have little conversations for them and you make every attempt possible to steer clear of them.

You even begin to watch who is interacting with them, who seems to have befriended them and you take a mental note, adding them to the list of those you may need to keep at a distance.

We need to do the same thing when it comes to Satan and stop being so passive and free-spirited around the very one whose whole objective is to obtain and destroy your very soul.

Peter and John both give us some words of advice.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

  • The First Thing We Should All Pray For is.....

We Want To Hear From YOU!

The thing we pray for the least is what we need the most…..and that is peace.

As valuable as peace is, it is not surprising to find that it is sometimes counterfeited. Empty promises of peace can be used to manipulate others. Deceitful men speak words of peace while secretly planning evil.

In Daniel 9 the Bible forewarns us that when the  Antichrist comes it will confirm a treaty, producing a temporary peace which he will then abruptly shatter as he reveals his true colors.

Turn to 13 chapters of Ezekiel and you see that scriptures make mention that False prophets will proclaim peace when God is actually proclaiming judgment. I

In Jeremiah’s day, if you turn to the 6th chapter you will read that the religious leaders dealt only with the symptoms of the national problems, without addressing the sinful root of the crisis. These false prophets declared everything was well between God and Israel: “Peace, peace,” they said, when there was no real peace.

God commands us to seek peace.  Romans 14:19 says We should “make every effort to do what leads to peace”. Even those  who do not desire peace, we are still to do our utmost to be at peace with them .

Believers have an obligation to “let the peace of God rule” in their hearts. Don’t be fooled, peace is something that cannot not be forced, commanded, declared or decreed. Peace is granted us when we make the choice to trust in God and allow  His to peace to  rule our daily lives.

The world will continue to have wars and interpersonal conflicts until Jesus comes to establish everlasting peace , but God will give His peace to those who trust Him. Once His peace rules in our hearts, we are able to share that peace with others; we then can become publishers of peace, ministers of reconciliation able to walk in dominion as mandated by God.

Peace is a performance heightener, when you walk in peace, you love better, you work better, your relationships are better.  Peace is also a magnet, as you walk with peace, forgiveness comes easier, laughter is more often and blessings seem to hunt you down.

True peace is undergirded by maintaining trust in God, when you trust God peace comes as part of the benefit package.  And a sincere desire for peace will steer you to lean on the only one who has never failed you.  Peace is revealed  when in the midst of a storm you have an unexplainable stillness.

I urge you this morning, moving forward, Begin every prayer, with “Lord give me peace”

  • A Pancake Mess

We Want To Hear From YOU!

I just want to remind you this morning that just as the resurrection of Christ is real so is the redemptive power of God.  The only people who never mess up are those who sit idle and never do anything, the ones who put no effort into the pursuing the purposes of God.

We are going to stumble, we are going to fall, we are going to sin and yes sometimes just like the boy in the story we are going to make a pure mess.

If God woke you up this morning its because he’s not done with you yet. Learn from your messes, clean them up and start all over again

  • You and I - Got History!

We Want To Hear From YOU!

We keep repeating the wrongs of our history, because study it and allow ourselves to be consumed by emotions, instead of instruction, anger instead of elevation, division instead of a plan rooted in purpose.

Whatever is  your cultural background, you should know and be proud of your heritage, bask in the knowledge of the history tied to your heritage.  But we must never forget God will not bless, mess and division is a mess and an insult to the purpose of God.

Using history to exalt division, anger, and prejudices is the trick of Satan, as he knows that if we ever revere history as God intended, it would disrupt his plans for our demise.

Philippians 2: 2-5  "So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus"

  • The Reading Of The Will

We Want To Hear From YOU!

Proverbs 13:22 “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, but the sinner's wealth is laid up for the righteous”. And when God manifested himself in flesh and walked the earth as Jesus The Christ when he laid down his life, he left an inheritance for us.

As I read some of the most peculiar wills ever written, one thing was consistent: they all had conditions, as to how the will was to be followed in order to receive the inheritance.  Conditions usually come in a will when one wants to preserve a legacy or to assure who or what they loved most is cared for and provided for.

In John 14:15 - 21 Jesus read his own will before his death as it reads: “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

Notice the will of Jesus begins with condition, if you love me keep my commands. The inheritance JESUS  left is for all those who love him. And what he left us was something only He could leave, the Holy Spirit.  In John 16:13 we read the power and character of the Holy Spirit that makes it such a priceless inheritance

Scripture tells us the Holy Spirit will not speak on his own authority but whatever He hears he will speak.

I don’t care how advanced Iphone or Samsung get with their technology. The one thing they cannot provide is a direct connection to God, Jesus left us that when he promised to send to those who love him the holy spirit.

You’ve read the will, you know what you have inherited, so when times seem challenges, when stumbling blocks are coming one after another, when folks are lying on you, when are your plans seem to crumble, when relationships go south, and your children go wild, remember in the will you were left a helper, call on him.

  • Always Too Soon To Quit

We Want To Hear From YOU!

Perseverance is godly and should be a principle in a believer’s life.  Perseverance doesn’t need public approval and could care less about being politically correct.

Perseverance ia  rooted in Matthew 17:20 which will make those who refuse to say “mountain get out of my way” knowing that nothing is impossible for them to believe.
Perseverance will look to Rom 8:31 and remember “if God be for you who can be against you” There is nothing half-hearted or lukewarm about perseverance, it's bold, it’s daring and it's fearless.

Perseverance is Nehemiah rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem when powerful men organized a slander campaign to stop the building project.  When slander could not stop Nehemiah they began to ridicule him.  Finally when slander nor ridicule drove him to quit, they threatened to kill Nehemiah.

Nehemiah passed out swords to half his men and bricks to the other half.  He made it clear he was ready to fight to the death.  The wall was rebuilt to the glory of God through the power of perseverance.

The Apostle Paul taught on the power of perseverance as he lived out his life.

After being beaten three times leaving his back a disfigured mass of scars

    After being shipwrecked

After being stoned and left for dead, face down in the dirt, a bloody pulp, more dead than alive

After being betrayed by his dearest friends

    After living under relentless scandal

After appearing before the church bound in chains

After being thrown in prison after prison

Paul put his pen to paper and wrote in 2 Cor 4:8-9 “We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed, we are perplexed but not in despair, persecuted but not forsaken, struck down, but destroyed.

It is always too soon to quit

The bible does say those who begin will be saved, or even those who try will be saved.  Matt 24:13 reads He who endures to the end will be saved.

Perseverance produce champions, champions gain access to dominion, dominion is godly as, scriptures tell us “whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus”

Give up on every idea of quitting… right now! Champions force themselves to do what they don’t like, to do what must be done in the heat of competition.  I hear some of you saying I don’t want to live my life in constant competition.  Competition is not all about measuring yourself against another, it is about winning for the sake of the Kingdom.  Like or not there has been an ongoing competition since Adam took his first breath.  God has never proclaimed to be in competition with anything or anyone, but Satan has staked claim to compete against God, so we don’t have to proclaim to be in competition but for the glory of God our efforts should be aligned with the winning team and our eyes are to remain on the prize, which is the Kingdom of Heaven.

1 Corinthians 9:24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? The one to receive the prize is the body of believers standing as one against the won running against them.

Again, perseverance produces champions, making it always too soon to quit.

  • Don't Count Your Money

We Want To Hear From YOU!

Ecc 10:9 reads, “wine makes the heart merry but money answereth all things”.  Now don’t get excited, that scriptures does not mean even close to what many think it does.

King Solomon who is the author of the book of Ecclesiastes was on his deathbed making confessions of his wrongs and in this passage he confesses to having a flawed mindset and in the very next verse he asks the people to not be angry with him for leading them with such a warped mindset.

If money was the answer to all things, what need would we have for God, what was the need for Jesus to sacrifice His life on the cross, and why was he adamant about sending us the Holy Spirit as a helper.

Not only is money not the answer to all things, it is not the answer to most things.

Money can buy you a palace filled with priceless items, but can’t buy you love and respect to resonate in those walls to make that palace a home.

Money can buy you access to the finest physicians and healthcare but cannot buy you health.

Money can buy you a bed made of solid gold, but can’t buy you a moment of rest or inner peace.

Money will attract legions of people but can’t buy the treasure of one true friend.

Money can buy you the most elaborate and expensive cross to wear around your neck but can’t buy you a savior for your soul.

Money can buy you a church pew with your name engraved in gold script but can’t buy you a ticket into heaven.

King Solomon was the richest monarch in ancient Israel, so rich the hinges on the doors of his stables were plated with gold, yet in Ecc 5:10 He wrote these words, “ Whoever loves money will never have enough, and whoever loves wealth will never be satisfied”

And the reason the words of King Solomon ring true is because money can never buy the priceless essentials required to complete us.

Don’t count your money, success is knowing that what God uniquely created you for you are pursuing with all your heart, mind, body and soul.  Now money and wealth can be a result or outcome of that success, but money can never stand alone and be a success.  So don’t count your money, commit yourself to fulfilling God’s purpose for you

  • CRITICIZE ME!

We Want To Hear From YOU!

You know so many of us live our lives not wanting to be criticized and even get angry when we are criticized, not realizing that critics are sometimes used by God for two things:  one to confirm that we are walking out our divine purpose and two to sharpen us for greater.

The very word, “criticism” gets a bad rap as it is always associated with a negative perspective.  When the truth is, we just have to be diligent about filtering criticism, determining what is being said is it to elevate, discipline or desecrate.

Proverbs 15:31-33 tells us, “if you listen to constructive criticism, you will be at home among the wise.  If you reject discipline you only harm yourself, but if you listen to corrections, you grow in understanding.  The scripture goes on to give this piece of advice…. Fear of the Lord teaches us  and humility precedes honor.

Meaning that we are to measure all things by the principles and righteousness of God, not afraid to humble ourselves.  It's these two things that will exalt us in honor.

Please know you can avoid criticism and here are 3 sure-fire ways to do that: 1. Do nothing 2. Be nothing 3. Say nothing

You will never fulfill God’s ordain purpose for your life fixated on avoiding criticism.  Wisdom is exalted when we learn to embrace criticism without pride and replace all our defense mechanisms with honesty, love, forgiveness and a sense of humor.  Yes, be willing to sometimes laugh at yourself as you use criticism to better yourself.

God uses people to pour into our lives, to sharpen our dullness, to shape what is disfigured, and to mold us into His masterpiece.  But the problem with most of us is that we would rather be ruined by the praise of others, than saved by the criticism of few.  Criticize Me!

  • Does the BIBLE need to catch up w/ the times?

We Want To Hear From YOU!

The Bible contains a great deal of information about the natural world that has been confirmed by scientific observations and research. As the Bible’s story of God’s redemptive plan for humanity unfolds, many different characters are vividly described. In those descriptions, the Bible provides a great deal of information about human behavior and tendencies. Our own day-to-day experience shows us that this information is more accurate and descriptive of the human condition than any psychology textbook. Many historical facts recorded in the Bible have been confirmed by extra-biblical sources. Historical research often shows a great deal of agreement between biblical accounts and extra-biblical accounts of the same events.

However, the Bible is not a history book, a psychology text, or a scientific journal. The Bible is the description God gave us about who He is, and His desires and plans for humanity. And this is the very fact that spearhead questions concerning the relevance of the bible and today’s times.

The Bible outlines God’s desires and His plans, while today’s culture is stuck on doing things their way.  Everyone wants to talk about what they have the right to do, to say, to wear, and to rebel against.  We have found ways to justify most everything we want, do, condone, praise, or participate in even if it violates the Word of God

Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to divide the soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” While the Bible was completed approximately 1900 years ago, its accuracy and relevance for today remain unchanged.

  • Is God Punishing Me?

We Want To Hear From YOU!

I have heard people say that God is punishing them for their sins and bad decisions.

Nothing could be further from the truth.  Most of the turmoil and hardships we endure is us living through the consequences derived from our actions, reactions, and decisions.

We understand the laws of gravity very well.  We know if we throw a ball up in the air that ball is going to come back down.  At no time do we begin to think or can even phantom that the ball will be just suspended in mid air.  Why? Because we know the  principles of gravity exist and are consistent.

The laws of gravity don’t take into consideration the color or size of the ball, if it goes up, its coming back down.

However, for some strange reason we think the principles of God will adjust according to how we feel, what we like or what makes us comfortable or uncomfortable, even after reading repeatedly in our Bibles that the Word of God never changes.

God’ Word and His principles give no credence to today’s timing, or trends, to the wealthy or to the poor, to the modest or to the boastful.

In Galatians 6:7-8, the scripture tells us to not be deceived, God will not be mocked. In other words God will not be made a fool of, or be called out as a liar, as it goes on to say for whatever one sows that he shall also reap.
