  • Have You Met Esther?

We Want To Hear From YOU!

Esther lived in ancient Persia about 100 years after the Babylonian captivity. When Esther's parents died, the orphaned child was adopted and raised by her older cousin Mordecai.

One day the king of the Persian Empire, Xerxes , threw a lavish party. On the final day of the festivities, he called for his queen, Vashti, but the queen refused to appear before Xerxes. Filled with anger, he deposed Queen Vashti, and forever removed her from his presence.

To find his new queen, Xerxes hosted a royal beauty pageant and Esther was chosen for the throne. Her cousin Mordecai became a minor official in the Persian government.

Soon Mordecai uncovered a plot to assassinate the king. He told Esther about the conspiracy, and she reported it to Xerxes, giving credit to Mordecai. The plot was derailed  and Mordecai's act of kindness was greatly appreciated by the King.

At this time, the king's highest official was a wicked man named Haman. He hated the Jews, especially Mordecai, who had refused to bow down to him.

Haman devised a scheme to have every Jew in Persia killed. The king agreed to his plan to annihilate the Jewish people on a specific day. Meanwhile, Mordecai learned of the plot and shared it with Esther, challenging her with these famous words  (Esther 4:13-14, NIV)

"Do not think that because you are in the king's house you alone of all the Jews will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?"

Esther urged all of the Jews to fast and pray for deliverance. Then, risking her own life, brave young Esther approached the king with a request.

She invited Xerxes and Haman to a banquet where eventually she revealed her Jewish heritage to the king, as well as Haman's diabolical plot to have her and her people killed. In a rage, the king ordered Haman to be hung on the gallows—the very same gallows Haman had built for Mordecai.

  • Is There A Right or Wrong Way to Pray

We Want To Hear From YOU!

Let me say this right off the bat, there is no compilation of expressed words that are deemed holier or more fervent than others. I have seen people ridiculed and criticized for their prayer, as some expect to feel something when someone prays.  Which is why you have a lot of people who don’t like to pray publicly and also why you have a lot of people who deem it necessary to make a public prayer a dramatic presentation

In Matthew 6:5&7 Jesus address this very topic as he says “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 7 “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.

Basically Jesus is letting us know, there is no reason to put on a production when you pray, and if you do, then you have prayed for the entertainment of the people, so look for your blessing to come from the ones you entertained.  Verse 7 continues address all the deep words, that may inspire or cause emotions to flair in people, but are ignored by God

Think about it there are some poems and even some songs that if read or sung at the appropriate time can invoke emotions, however, they are not rooted in a relationship which is inspired by communication with Him.

The righteousness of our prayer rests on the condition of our hearts, our souls and our intention.  Depending on these three things our prayers can be hindered

    Unconfessed sin is likely the most common hindrance to prayer  Psalm 66:18 If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened;

Lack of faith is a true hindrance to prayer in Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Selfishness and Wrong Intentions James 4:3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions or wrong motives.  In other words you come to God so fixed on your greed, your own desires, with a checklist treating Him like a genie instead of God almighty.

Un-forgiveness  “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

Un-submitted to the will of God - (John 15:7). The branch depends on the vine and lives in one accord with it. In return, the vine provides it with everything it needs, and the result is great fruitfulness.

  • Disobedience Will Take You Places You Never Intended To Go

We Want To Hear From YOU!

    Jonah’s Disobedience. (Jonah 1:1-3)

Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,  “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.” But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.

Don't let disobedience to the word of God take you places you never intended to go and through expereinces that God neve intended for you to have to endure.

  • Get Salty!

We Want To Hear From YOU!

Have you ever been around someone who just complains, has something negative to say about everything.  In the midst of celebrating they complain about the color of balloons.

They are usually also the ones who trust no one, believe everyone has a hidden agenda or are out to get them.

Proverbs 15:13  A cheerful heart brings a smile to your face; a sad heart makes it hard to get through the day.

Joy is good medicine.  Those who have joy are usually grounded in their faith.  See the issue is we have been tricked into believing that God has lost control.

We sip on Satan’s poison, we have been duped into thinking politicians, the government, the media and Sagtan himself, have everything on lock.

    Regar
dless of what it looks like God is still on the throne.

    Revelation 1:8

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

As believers it’s hard to talk to anyone about  God or lead anyone to Christ because we don’t know how to represent the Kingdom in the times of turmoil

We called to be the salt of the earth.  The meaning of being salt has nothing to do with us  having the tang of salt,  but the value. In biblical times salt was highly prized as a preservative of food – so precious that it was used as money with Roman soldiers were even sometimes paid in salt.

Taking on the persona of salt of the earth, means we are to bring value to situations, conversations and environments.

    Matthew 5:13-16

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. “You are the light of the world. Let your light shine before others, so they will give glory to God.

We  cannot effectively draw people into the Kingdom if it looks like the God we serve has no power.

In the midst of turmoil, pray for God to show you Him, his purpose and your assignment.

As committed servants we should want to be part of the solution that gives God glory not part of the negativity that showcases Satan’s agenda.

  • If GOD Knows All Then Why.....

We Want To Hear From YOU!

We say God is omniscient, meaning one who knows all things.  The word omniscient is nowhere in the bible but the inference of God knowing all things in prevalent from Genesis to Revelation.

Psalm 147:5  Great is our Lord, abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite.
1 John 3:20 “for God is greater than our heart and knows all things”

There is no doubt lingering in regards to  God’s level of knowledge, however, the impact or the influence of His knowledge and our humanity rears up many valid questions.

I was recently asked if God knows everything then why pray, why does He ask questions, is our destiny already predetermined and last but not least if God knows everything does that negate our free will?

This morning I prayed as asked by the Holy Spirit to guide me to explain this in the simplest way possible.

First let’s talk about how intimidating it is when we truly embrace that  God knows our every thought. Iur angry thoughts, lustful thoughts, vengeful ideas, secret greed, and hidden coveting. God also knows our secret longings, hopeful desires, and private dreams. And He understands.

Sometimes we are harder on ourselves than God is. Psalm 103:14 tell us that He knows we are frail humans made from dirt and born with a sin nature.

However, at the same time we can also be too easy and carefree and not hold ourselves accountable regarding our thoughts. The bible tells us so a man thinketh so is he, which tells us our thoughts ought not be set on the things outside of the will and ways of God,

In Colossians 1:21 it speaks of our minds alienating us and making us enemies of God.  You know our ancestors used to say don’t go anywhere you don’t want to take God, because he is always with you, well this morning I am telling you don’t fix your minds on things and thoughts you don’t want to have an open conversation with God about.

Let’s talk about the  core issue that remains on the table.  If God knows in advance how we will act, then most perceive that this means we cannot act other than in accordance with God's foreknowledge, so then we  cannot possibly have free-will.  Not so!

  • The HE I speak of....

We Want To Hear From YOU!

He is the First and Last, the Beginning and the End!

He is the keeper of Creation and the Creator of all!

He is the Architect of the universe and

He is The Manager of all times.

He always was, He always is, and He always will be…

Unmoved, Unchanged, Undefeated, and never Undone!

He was bruised and brought healing!

He was pierced and eased pain!

He was persecuted and brought freedom!

He was dead and brought life!

He is risen and brings power!

    He reigns and brings Peace!

    The world can’t understand him,

    The armies can’t defeat Him,

The schools find it hard to describe Him, and

    The leaders can’t ignore Him.

    Herod couldn’t kill Him,

The Pharisees couldn’t confuse Him, and

    The people couldn’t hold Him!

    Nero couldn’t crush Him,

    Hitler couldn’t silence Him,

    Technology can’t replace Him, and

    CNN can’t explain Him away!

He is light, love, longevity, and Lord.

He is goodness, Kindness, Gentleness, and God.

He is Holy, Righteous, mighty, powerful, and pure.

    His ways are right,

    His word is eternal,

    His will is unchanging, and

    His mind is on me.

    He is my Redeemer,

    He is my Savior,

    He is my guide, and

    He is my peace!

    He is my Joy,

    He is my comfort,

    He is my Lord, and

    He rules my life!

I serve Him because His bond is love,

    His burden is light, and

His goal for me is an abundant life.

I follow Him because He is the wisdom of the wise,

    The power of the powerful,

The ancient of days, the ruler of rulers,

The leader of leaders, the overseer of the overcomers, and

The sovereign Lord of all that was and is and is to come.

And if that seems impressive to you, try this for size.

His desire is a relationship with ME!

    He will never leave me,

    Never forsake me,

    Never mislead me,

    Never forget me,

    Never overlook me, and

With Him I don’t need to make an appointment,

  • Put Down Your Checklists

We Want To Hear From YOU!

We are venturing into part 2 of our study of Galatians.  Galatians, the New Testament book, written by Paul as a letter to the Galatians who were believers who received salvation based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, but strayed from the foundation of the teachings that led to their receiving salvation.

But they began to be drawn back to the practices of religiosity which had nothing to do with the Kingdom of Heaven or pleasing God.

Now Paul was the perfect man to address the Galatians for he was once a devout Jew, who knew first-hand what it was like to be more committed to the practices, traditions and rituals of religion than to God Himself.

Paul was so committed to religiosity, he was blinded and didn’t recognize when the Savior the Jews were looking and praying for actually arrived.  Pau was the leader of the pack that ridiculed the teachings of Jesus Christ and wanted to jail and kill those who followed Jesus’ teachings.

But then God confronted Paul.  Let me tell the story to some and refresh the story in the minds of others.  The story comes from the book Acts and begins in the 9th chapter

Yes, we are studying Galatians but I need to you understand the underlying and qualifying components of Paul audacity when he addresses the Galatians.See Paul, who went by the name of Saul at that time, was on his way to Damascus with a letter from the high priest in Jerusalem who gave him authority to arrest any who belonged to what was called,  “the Way,” meaning Christians, those who followed Christ.

Paul sought to intentionally oppose the name of Jesus. And no doubt because he had the support of the high priest he walked with a false sense of entitlement and much arrogance. So much so that in Acts 26:9-11.  Paul says in his own words “I too was convinced that I ought to do all that was possible to oppose the name of Jesus of Nazareth. 10 And that is just what I did in Jerusalem. On the authority of the chief priests I put many of the Lord’s people in prison, and when they were put to death, I cast my vote against them.

Let me give you a little sidebar here, be careful who you follow, I don’t care what their position is nor what kind of illumination of authority they have, keep your heart aligned with the will and the ways of God, don’t allow distractions to blind you so you don’t recognize when God is moving and when He is telling you stand down.

Let’s go back to the road of Damascus.  Suddenly a bright light was shone on Saul, so bright it caused him to fall to the ground. Then Jesus spoke to Saul, asking him, “Why are you persecuting me?” in a voice understood only by him.  Then Saul, as I am sure he was shivering in fear, asked  “Who are you, Lord?” “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

I find the need to pause right here with another sidebar, for all of you who struggle with Jesus being God,  Paul had to face this reality in the most shocking, and unimaginable way.  Notice the voice didn’t say this is God, the voice he heard proclaimed to be Jesus confirming they are one in the same, because only God can create an experience like Paul had that day.

  • ARMOUR UP!

We Want To Hear From YOU!

Ephesians 6:10-18.  The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
