We Want To Hear From YOU!

Sometimes things seem dim because it's the perspective from which you are viewing and not necessarily about what you are viewing.  “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?  How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?  You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye."  Matthew 7:3-5

  • I'M DONE WITH THE OLD... WHAT ABOUT YOU?

We Want To Hear From YOU!

“No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

New wine needs a new wineskin because as the new wine expands during the fermentation process, it stretches the wineskin. An old wineskin will burst under the pressure of new wine.

In Sunday’s sermon, I talked about the season in which we as a people, we as a nation, and we as believers are in.  This is not a season of restoration for restoration by definition means to return something to its original state.  We are in a season that requires reviving, ushering in a new energy, this is a season of rebuilding, when we should be committed to making extreme changes, and life altering upgrades.

We as believers have to get serious about picking up the mantle of dominion and standing on the word of God, we must begin to be actively committed in every industry, not bowing to being politically correct but biblically confirm so that we can shifting of the  culture in which we live to align with the culture of heaven

  • REMNANTS! TIME TO REVIVE & REBUILD

We Want To Hear From YOU!

Today our text will be coming from the book of Ezra. Let me set the scene for you. When God freed Israel from Egypt bringing them out of slavery, he warned them that if they chose to break their covenant with Him, He would again allow other nations to take them back into slavery.

The Israelites, much like us today, seem to take God's grace for granted, or as a weakness, thinking that His love for us will allow Him to go against His Word. However, true to His promise, God allowed Israel and Judah to once again be enslaved, because they didn’t honor their covenant with Him, because they chose to do things their way, operating in complete disobedience to His word.

Before I go any further, I want to explain to you the depth of a covenant.  I think we use this word loosely, never really embracing its meaning in its totality.  A covenant biblically speaking goes beyond an ordinary agreement between two people.  Any time you see the word covenant in the Bible it involves a promise that in order to be kept will require a change of heart and or a spirit of obedience. When God makes a covenant with us, since we know He is the same yesterday today, and forevermore, and that He does bow in obedience to us, that means every covenant God enters in with us will require a change of our hearts, and for us to walk in obedience in order for him to uphold his end of the promise.  God, is Almighty, God is a promise-keeping God

Now the book of Ezra picks up after the Israelites violated their covenant with God and allowed the fine print of the covenant to manifest with them serving as slaves again for 70 years. The Book of Ezra outlines the events occurring in the land of Israel when they once again come up out of slavery with an emphasis on the rebuilding of the Temple since they were now free and able to worship according to their beliefs.

As you can imagine with 70 years of slavery, many didn’t survive, but those who did survive are described in Ezra 9:15 as it reads,  Lord, the God of Israel, you are righteous! We are left, this day as a remnant. Here we are before you in our guilt, though because of it not one of us can stand in your presence.”

  • At The Altar

We Want To Hear From YOU!

I want to talk to you briefly about the “alter”. An altar is any structure upon which offerings OR sacrifices are made for religious purposes. This is why in traditional churches the offering pan is often placed on the altar and people come to the altar to give their offering.

The word altar is first used in Genesis 8:20 when Noah built an altar to the Lord after leaving the ark. However, the idea was present as early as Genesis 4:3–4 when Cain and Abel brought their sacrifices to the Lord. They most likely presented their offerings on some type of altar, even though the word altar is not used in that passage.

An altar always represented a place of consecration. Before God gave His Law to Moses, men made altars wherever,  out of whatever material was available. An altar was often built to commemorate an encounter with God that had a profound impact.

During times of Israel’s rebellion and idolatry, the Lord’s altars fell into disrepair. Elijah’s restoration of the altar was significant, given the rampant paganism of his day. “Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, symbolizing the unity of God’s people in his construction: to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, ‘Your name shall be Israel.’ It was on this rebuilt altar that God rained down fire and put the Baal-worshipers to shame (verses 38–39).

In the broadest sense, an altar is merely a designated place where a person consecrates himself to someone or something. Many church buildings have “altars” for prayer, communion, weddings, and other sacred purposes. Some Christians create their own “altars” in their homes for personal worship as visible reminders of Romans 12:1, which says to “present yourself as a living sacrifice.”

  • Playing The Wrong Game

We Want To Hear From YOU!

Sam had mastered this new game—or so he thought. Every turn, he had a choice as to what he would buy. And most turns, Sam diligently collected more resources. His collection was vast and diversified. He had resources of every value, shape, and variety. Surely he was doing well!

Ask yourself: Am I investing in eternal treasure or am I caught up in things that don’t last? Am I digging into God’s Word to understand what really matters or just following my own strategy and thoughts as to what each day should be like? Am I living life my way or God's?

  • Thanks For Reminding Me

We Want To Hear From YOU!

We go through our daily lives busy, consumed with making ends meet, checking off tasks, and fulfilling the roles expected of us.  And in the midst of all of this it is easy to forget that we were created by God Almighty, with an assignment and a calling on our lives.  It is also easy to get caught up in reacting to this world according to the standards that have been set, forgetting the covering of God, forgetting the undeserving smile of God.

Today, I want to remind you of a few things concerning you and God and prayerfully when I am done your response will be “thanks for reminding me”.

  • SELF-WILL (The Selfie Series pt 4)

We Want To Hear From YOU!

Proverbs 29:1 He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy

We are still in our selfie series.  This morning I want to talk about our self-will, also known as the spirit of stubbornness.  I would like to read you  Proverbs 29:1 in the Message translation for clarity.

The Message translation reads. For people who hate discipline and only get more stubborn, There’ll come a day when life tumbles in and they break, but by then it’ll be too late to help them.

Stubbornness by definition is unreasonably or perversely unyielding.  You know when someone is insistent on their way, despises what deems reasonable, fair, or just.  Stubbornness is rooted in self-centeredness, which is a mindset that is concerned solely with one's own desires, needs, or interests.

However, the scripture tells us that stubborn-minded individuals are paving a road to destruction. Proverbs 12:15 reads The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advise.

Those who walk with wisdom are sensitive to the counsel of others, will consider things from another’s perspective, they are not so hell-bent on their way being the only and the absolute way.

I don’t know about you but as I look back over my life, I wish I would've taken a lot of wise counsel that was offered to me.  Had I not been so caught up in self-will, I could have avoided a whole lot of pitfalls and would have dodged a lot of pain.

I have been blessed, like a lot of you all listening to me now, we have bounced back and our self-will may have deterred us but it didn’t destroy us.  But just know self-will, stubbornness and consistently pulling away from wise counsel will eventually destroy you, your dreams, and your destiny.

  • SELFISHNESS (The Selfie Series pt 3)

We Want To Hear From YOU!

Hebrews 13:16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Selfishness is one of the biggest offenses to the will of God.  We live in a culture where the mantra is getting all you can and can all you get. We are not willing to look out for the less fortunate, to share what we have for fear of loss or an inability to maintain a status that is envied by others.

But the same God that gave to you, can and will give you more.  God watches closely how we manage what we are blessed with, he looks at the heart regarding how we deal with overflow. The bible tells us that God loves a cheerful giver.  He loves what is completely the opposite of selfishness.

We get caught up in not giving to man, but the truth is when you give you are giving unto God, for giving exalts the true essence of the Almighty

.God is so serious about us being givers He even offers a challenge to help us overcome the spirit of selfishness in Luke 6:38 as it reads Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

A selfish spirit minimizing the god that you serve.  We serve a big God of abundance, a giving God.  It is our responsibility and citizens of the King to bring the culture of heaven to earth and there is no room for selfishness in the Kingdom, as true Kingdom servants bask in allowing God to use them to be a blessing.
