  • The Rope-A-Dope

We Want To Hear From YOU!

A fighter whose mind is set on victory will never tell those in the camp to watch the tapes of the fights and bring him the reports of their opinions, then begin to train and spar expecting a victory.  But some of us depend solely on sermons and the word of God as administered through others, never really taking the time to rewind the pages of the bible and study them for ourselves.

We have already determined that God has enlisted you through your acceptance of salvation as a fighter. Let me explain how the ritual of champion fighters applies to the necessary rituals of Christian who expect to walk in the victory against Satan as their opponent.

First be willing to sacrifice time, because again persistence and discipline are the key for any fighter.  Rewind the tape of your bouts, your wins, and losses, make note of your strengths and weaknesses.  Now evaluate according to the mandate and word of God how to make your strengths greater and how to overcome your weaknesses that they may be your secret weapons.

Remember Satan studies us he knows our weaknesses, which is why we have to overcome them and when he thinks our weaknesses are his way in to destroy us, we have revamped them as our secret weapons.  If any of you know anything about Muhammad Ali he had a technique they referred to as the rope a dope.  It was a strategy that, instead of moving around the ring, Ali chose to fight for extended periods of time leaning back into the ropes in order to avoid many of his opponent’s heaviest blows, and once his opponent had worn himself out physically Ali would switch and fight for the victory.

Satan has the ordinary everyday Christin figured out, he knows how to fight them, even makes them think they are winning, know that when the bell rings and the final count is calculated and the judge of all judges calls the fight, the victory is his.

I employ every blood-washed believer, that is in love with Jesus, I am not talking about those who want to just have an affair with Jesus, I am talking about those who are committed, that are ready to announce for God I live and for God, I’ll, those who know without a shadow of a doubt that God is their ride or die if that is you…. Prepare and train yourself on how to use the rope-a-dope on Satan.

See he has already grouped you with the lukewarm Christian and in all honesty, you are no threat to him because he knows in Revelation 3:15-17 God says since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!  Because of these words of the King of Kings, Satan doesn’t even consider you a real opponent for him in battle.

Satan also knows what is in store for the Christian who walks in hypocrisy. Matthew 6:1“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

So how do you use the rope-a-dope tactics to win against Satan?  Instead of running around the ring from preacher to preacher, conference to conference,  and prophet to prophet depending on a word from God to come through others, discipline yourself to spend time each and every day with God in prayer and also set aside time to study his word, by topic.  Why do I emphasize “by topic”, because you are more likely to be drawn to the word when it speaks to your weaknesses when you start to find and decipher answers to questions you always had.

These two things: commitment to some time in prayer and time in the word is the rope-a-dope tactic for Satan because he doesn't know how to defend himself against those who spend time in the presence and in the Word of God.

  • What A Beautiful Tea Cup

We Want To Hear From YOU!

    At the Potter’s House

18 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” 3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. 4 But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.

5 Then the word of the Lord came to me. 6 He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel. 7 If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, 8 and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. 9 And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted, 10 and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it.

  • The Shoe Man

We Want To Hear From YOU!

This morning I would like to share a poem I recently read entitled The Shoe Man by Leanne Freiberg

     My alarm went off

    It was Sunday again.

    I was sleepy and tired

My one day to sleep in.

But the guilt I would feel

    The rest of the day

    Would have been too much

So I'd go and I'd pray.

     I showered and shaved

    I adjusted my tie.

    I got there and sat

In a pew just in time.

    Bowing my head in prayer

    As I closed my eyes.

I saw the shoe of the man next to me

    Touching my own. I sighed.

With plenty of room on either side

I thought, "Why must our soles touch?"

It bothered me, his shoe touching mine

But it didn't bother him much.

     A prayer began: "Our Father"...

I thought, "This man with the shoes

    has no pride.

    They're dusty, worn, and scratched

Even worse, there are holes on the side!"

"Thank You for blessings," the prayer went on.

     The shoe man said

    a quiet "Amen."

I tried to focus on the prayer

But my thoughts were on his shoes again.

Aren't we supposed to look our best

    When walking through that door?

"Well, this certainly isn't it," I thought,

    Glancing toward the floor.

     Then the prayer was ended

And the songs of praise began.

The shoe man was certainly loud

    Sounding proud as he sang.

    His voice lifted the rafters

    His hands were raised high.

    The Lord could surely hear

The shoe man's voice from the sky.

It was time for the offering

And what I threw in was steep.

I watched as the shoe man reached

    Into his pockets so deep.

I saw what was pulled out

What the shoe man put in.

Then I heard a soft "clink"

    as when silver hits tin.

     The sermon really bored me

To tears, and that's no lie

It wasn’t   the same for the shoe man

For tears fell from his eyes.

At the end of the service

    As is the custom here

    We must greet new visitors

And show them all good cheer.

     But I felt moved somehow

And wanted to meet the shoe man

    So after the closing prayer

I reached over and shook his hand.

He was old and his skin was dark

And his hair was truly a mess

But I thanked him for coming

    For being our guest.

     He said, "My names' Charlie

I'm glad to meet you, my friend."

There were tears in his eyes

But he had a large, wide grin

    "Let me explain," he said

    Wiping tears from his eyes.

"I've been coming here for months

And you're the first to say 'Hi.'"

     "I know that my appearance

Is not like all the rest

    "But I really do try

    To always look my best.

"I always clean and polish my shoes

    Before my very long walk.

"But by the time I get here

They're dirty and dusty, like chalk."

     My heart filled with pain

and I swallowed to hide my tears

    As he continued to apologize

For daring to sit so near.

He said, "When I get here

    I know I must look a sight.

"But I thought if I could touch you

Then maybe our souls might unite."

I was silent for a moment

    Knowing whatever was said

    Would pale in comparison

I spoke from my heart, not my head.

"Oh, you've touched me," I said,

    "And taught me, in part;

"That the best of any man

Is what is found in his heart."

     The rest, I thought,

This shoe man will never know.

Like just how thankful I really am

That his dirty old shoe touched my soul.

God charges us to be careful with the hearts of people to not judge people by their appearance and not measure a man based on assumptions in...Read James 2:1-9

  • HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY MESSAGE FOR THESE TIMES

We Want To Hear From YOU!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the women who birth a child from their womb and also to those who have nurtured and stood in the gap and mothered from their heart.

As we continue to do things differently, I chose to pre-record this message and release it earlier than our regularly scheduled service time, so that everyone could listen to it at their preferred time.  I am not going to keep you long today, because I want you to enjoy your mother’s, honor them, be honored, and enjoy some genuine quality time with your families.

Let us pray as we prepare our hearts for the word:  Father God we come before you asking you to open our ears, hearts, and minds to receive your word.  Let your word resonate in our spirits and let our spirits challenge us to change, shift, and become more aligned with your word and your purpose for our lives.  Amen

I am not taking anything away from men and the incredible fathers out there, but it takes an incredible woman to wear the badge of motherhood.  God’s perfect design for family involves unconditional love, a man and a woman, but as humans we are flawed, we don’t always follow God’s plan and we are incapable of perfection.

I have heard people say when it comes to parenting, you just do the best you can because babies don’t come with a manual.  The definition a manual is a book of instructions, to guide one through the setup and operation of a specific item or procedure.  A manual is designed to be helpful as it shares with one the mind of the creator so one can better understand the full purpose, and features as designed.

In a manual there is usually a troubleshooting section and a frequently asked question section, to assist with any malfunction or mistakes in programming or using an item.  Today our phones are like mini-computers in the palm of our hands, we have streaming media on our high definition televisions at home, and most of us although we purchased these items for the features advertised, we never actually engage in all of their benefits, because we never take the time to read the manual.

We would just set it up, connect the power and would rather fumble around and learn of the features as we go and through trial and error.  I don’t know about you, some of you may have done everything by the book, but not me, like some of you I knew the manual was available, and it was accessible, but I chose to just fumble my way through and learn the true benefits of the features allot me as a child of God through trial and error.

So I say to all of those who say children don’t come with a manual.  The manual was accessible to the parents before the child came. The problem is we connected the power, and chose to wing it and the sections of the manual we chose to read, we oftentimes fail to apply.

You ever buy something that needs assembling and you just look at the parts and the picture and wing it,  reading just the highlights in the manual and wonder why after we have assembled the unit we have screws left over.

On yesterday, I released a pre-Mother’s Day tribute and it talked about the love of a mother and ended with a musical tribute acknowledging the impact of a mother’s love.

I want to move from the love of a mother, and talk to you today about the character of a mother as outlined in the manual, the bible, the book that outlines the mind of our Creator.

You know it's never too late to go back and look at a manual to learn more about operating and using an item. And it is definitely never too late to go back and read as a matter of fact study God’s manual because it provides us links and direction for ongoing upgrades.

  • Pre-Mother's Day Tribute

We Want To Hear From YOU!

I read a quote by Maya Angelou when she was asked about her mother she said “To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colors of a rainbow.

I too truly know how she feels, and for all of those who have known the love of a mother or loved as a mother, you too have that feeling. A mother’s love is so celebrated because it exudes the very essence of the love described in 1 Corinthians 13’

A mother loves  is patient and kind,  as a child will try will you at every turn

    A mother’s love does not envy or boast from a point of self-centeredness;

A mother’s love is  it is not arrogant or rude for a real mother is always set on being the example

A mother’s love does not insist on its own way, only on the right way for a true mother only wants the best for their child and will humble herself when required.

A mother’s love is not irritable or resentful, though she faces unimaginable challenges.

A mother’s love does not rejoice at wrongdoing,  even if the outcome deems profitable on the surface.

A mother’s love rejoices in the truth.

A mother’s Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

    A mother’s love never ends.

I want to wish all the mothers out there a happy mother’s day and to all of you who know the love of a real mother whether she is still with you or not cherish, remember and hold dear that love in your heart, and live life  HONORING YOUR MOTHER’S LOVE BY sharing the love you were blessed with, with others.
