  • Ramona Reed - Red Elvis
Dean Reed's Hollywood career was brief, but he became an international superstar during the height of the Cold War, living in Latin America and communist Europe. After going public about wanting to return home to the United States, Dean's life came to a mysterious end. Decades later, his daughter Ramona is determined to find out what really happened to him.

    Episodes here:

    https://www.iheart.com/podcast/1119-red-elvis-105219647/

    ABOUT RAMONA REED

Ramona Reed is the daughter of Dean Reed who Red Elvis is about. Decades after her dad's mysterious disappearance she is she is determined to find out what really happened to him. Ramona is executive producer, narrator and advisor to the documentary film Red Elvis: The Coldwar Cowboy,, now streaming on Amazon Prime.

ABOUT THE FILM DEAN REED: THE COLDWAR COWBOY BY ELENA RINGO OF INDIE-CINEMA.COM

The film is a documentary dedicated to an American singer Dean Reed, who became a superstar in the Soviet Union and Eastern Germany. In a way he was much more than Elvis Presley. He was not only a singer, he was also a film director, a writer, an actor and a social activist. He was a rebel with a strong feeling of social injustice and was fighting the existing capitalist system of the Western World. American Rebel - it is written on his grave and he lived as a rebel.

The film was released in 2022 and was screened on British Sky TV and American documentary streamer Curiosity. The story of Dean Reed told by several people, including Dean's daughter Ramona Reed is touching and captivating. It is illustrated by numerous footage which show the actor in Latin America, in the USA, in Russia and Eastern Germany.

The life of Dean Reed reflects also the complexity of that time. For the first time he visited Russia in the sixties - time of hope and freedom. Dean Reed was a breath of fresh air in Soviet Union and Eastern Germany. He was singing revolutionary songs but at the same time he represented to Russian people the American dream; tall, artistic charismatic cowboy with a Hollywood smile. He was like a ray of sunshine coming through the iron curtain.

In the seventies Dean Reed often appeared on Soviet TV, and he was very popular. He toured the Soviet Union and crowds of people cheered him at stadiums. Women fell in love with him and men wanted to copy his haircut. For the Soviet Government Dean was a useful tool of propaganda - he was singing revolutionary songs and was a living proof that the West is on the brink of revolution.

But in the eighties his popularity started to decline. The leaders of communist regime were carefully preparing the perestroika - demolition of communism and privatization of manufacturers. They were preparing to benefit from the new order. Red Elvis was not needed for them anymore.

Russia little by little opened up to Western culture. When in the eighties I studied at university, we were listening to Joe Dassin, Boney M, ABBA, Frank Sinatra and other western music. Seldom to Dean Reed.

When Dean Reed died there was very little information in Soviet press concerning his death. He was supposed to have drowned, but this version obviously did not look credible, as he was an excellent swimmer and was found near the shore. Later it was suggested he committed suicide.

Ramona Reed, daughter of Dean Reed, raised in the film concern regarding her father's death. She did not believe in the official version of events. Other American relatives of Dean also did not believe in accidental death and neither in his suicide. And they have a reason because this tragic story has many missing links. Unfortunately, this horrible end was not investigated properly and even now, after many years, no more facts came out. As it turns out, secret services guard their secrets properly.

It is interesting that in 2007 a German film "Der Rote Elvis" was made. The creators of the German film interviewed several people, but not American relatives. Somehow the film wanted to leave the impression that Dean committed suicide. I personally do not believe in that because too many clues show that it was a murder. I personally do not believe Stasi or KGB could kill Dean Reed. It was the time when these secret services did not kill people like that and they were especially careful with foreign citizens. To spy on them? Yes. To murder? No. It just was not possible. And even if we suggested that secret services for some very important reasons wanted to eliminate Dean Reed they would not do it in a park just a mile away of his house in Eastern Berlin. It was not the style of secret services, that is for sure.

It was stupid and reckless to put a body so near the shore and so near his house. This botched murder was not a deed of professionals, but of a desperate person who hardly knew what he or she was doing. It looks like Dean did not die in the lake, where he was found in shallow water covered with stones. Probably the body was taken there by the murderer.

Dean Reed's car was found near the shore. It hit the tree.

I cannot imagine that Dean Reed himself hit a tree. He was a very good driver and he was not drunken. But the person who hit the tree was probably the killer, scared out of his wits and disoriented. Probably it was planned to drive further away and bury Dean in a place where he would not be discovered soon. But the accident stopped this plan and he was left very near the beach and covered with stones to prevent his body to come up.

The murder of a foreign national and especially a famous singer would be a huge international scandal. Suicide version or accident suited authorities better. So the killer or killers escaped from punishment.

I do not believe for a moment that such a clumsy murder could be work of any secret service or professional killers. But Stasi and other authorities did everything to cover it up. Death of Dean was announced an accident, then suggested it was a suicide. Even a suicide note was found in archive, but it does not look remotely authentic. The man who appreciated justice and was fighting for social justice did not get it at the very end.

Now that the capitalism won in Russia, the music of Dean Reed is not promoted there anymore, nor in Russia, nor in the USA, not in Germany. But despite this, his music is still listened by many and loved by many. Now the real ugly face of capitalism has hypocrisy, cruelty - everything what Dean hated and now position of Marxist Dean Reed becomes more and more understandable and current. Sometimes I like to listen Dean Reed singing "My Way". He put more special meaning into this song than any other singer because he really lived his life his own way, fought for truth and justice.

The film "Red Elvis: The Cold War Cowboy" is a loving tribute to a singer and a person, whose name should not be forgotten. His talent, his struggle for peace and social justice will be with us as a candle in the darkness of modern times and a bridge between two societies divided by a New Cold War.

Kat has the most beautiful voice and she doesn't know how to deliver less than a perfect vocal every time! When you make Christmas music, you literally get a free pass to do whatever you like-the freedom for me as a producer was so much fun - no pressure."

Chimes in McPhee, "I haven't been focusing on being a recording artist, but then I married the best record producer and the deal was sealed! We started this process out in our living room for fun and then it turned into a full-fledged, "let's do this for real." David's history with Christmas albums is legendary - it became a labor of love for him."

Look for David and Katharine on TV this holiday season in support of their new Christmas album, starting with their recent interviews on Entertainment Tonight and People Online..

  • Sailor Brinkley-Cook - Launches new lifestyle brand, Sacred + Divine
Sailor Brinkley-Cook, daughter of legendary supermodel, Christie Brinkley, is a model, photographer, mental health advocate & body image activist. Sailor is ambassador and the creative director for a new lifestyle brand, Sacred + Divine, creating products that bring sacred rituals through the art of self-care into our everyday lives.

Each product at Sacred + Divine is crafted with intention and purpose. Divine intentions flow into the wax of the candles and are released, along with heavenly scents, with the light of the wick. Sacred, alchemical processes occur with the creation of our angel number jewelry, which is made by hand in Los Angeles with 14k recycled gold and responsibly sourced diamonds. Sacred + Divine Candles are made from food grade wax with a soy coconut blend. Through traditional extraction methods, like distillation, expression, and extraction, we obtain essential oils, isolates, absolutes and resins from plants and flowers that we then blend into our fragrances at high concentrations to bring you a sacred aromatherapeutic experience. Angel numbers work in accordance with numerology, which upholds the notion that each number is connected to a certain vibrational energy or frequency that holds meaning beyond its numeric value, making the spiritual tangible.

In numerology, angel numbers are a repetitive sequence of digits that manifest to convey a divine message inviting you to elevate your energy with Sacred + Divine. Seeing a repeating number is as though your angels are pointing to you to deliver an important message and trying to get your attention and the numbers they send have meanings interpretable manifestations of the Sacred and Divine.

Sailor is best known for advocating for people struggling with mental health, body dysmorphia and eating disorders.

PEOPLE MAGAZINE STORY ON SAILOR BRINKLEY-COOK FROM 11/28/22

Sailor Brinkley-Cook Often Raids Mom Christie Brinkley's Closet: 'I Love Everything She Has'

"It's always those loopholes with moms, where you're like, 'You can't really be that angry. I'm your child,'" she says of borrowing her mom's clothes and not returning them'

    Like mother, like daughter.

Sailor Brinkley-Cook loves to take a peek at what's inside her model mom's closet when she needs something new to wear. The 24-year-old tells PEOPLE that as she grows up, she's realizing more and more that her style is right in line with how her mom, supermodel Christie Brinkley, 68, dresses. In fact, some of the pieces she's swiped from her mom's closet are her most prized possessions.

"Both of us are pretty classic," she says. "We love a white t-shirt. We love a good pair of jeans. We love a trenchcoat, good sweater, a good pair of white sneakers, black boots."

Brinkley-Cook admits that before she found her current classic style, she tried to have an "edgy" vibe before realizing it just wasn't her. "What was I trying to do? I'm not edgy," she tells PEOPLE with a laugh. Instead, she finds comfort in classic pieces, like jeans and hoodies, but isn't shy about grabbing something new from her mom's wardrobe.

"Sometimes I'll ask to borrow something, and I'll be like, 'Oh my God, this is so cute,' and she'll tell me, 'Okay, but you have to give it back.' And then she forgets!" Brinkley-Cook says. She admits that she's held onto a few pieces due to that exact situation, and when she wears them again, her mom remembers where it came from.

"She'll remind me it's hers, and I just tell her she never asked for it back!" Brinkley-Cook tells PEOPLE. "It's always those loopholes with moms, where you're like, 'You can't really be that angry. I'm your child.'"

But some of the clothes Brinkley-Cook has gotten from her mom were actually gifted to her, because the Sacred + Divine creative director admits that she doesn't shop a lot, as it's not something she has the budget for.

When she moved back to the city recently to launch her brand, Brinkley-Cook says she asked her mom if she had any "little things" from her closet she might be able to have. "She gave me my grandmère's old trench coat and it's this stunning beige trench that's been in my family for 40, 50 years, so it's so cool to have that," she says, adding that she also inherited a navy Isaac Mizrahi jacket that she adores.

"Those are the pieces that mean the world to me because they've lived such a life with my mom and now they get to live such a life with me," Brinkley-Cook gushes. "She's definitely got those classic pieces, and I always love everything she has because we're both lovers of those iconic pieces."

Along with sharing her wardrobe, Brinkley has also shared words of wisdom with her daughter, especially as she got into the modeling scene - something Brinkley-Cook didn't necessarily see for herself. Afraid she would just be seen as a "nepotism baby," Brinkley-Cook was hesitant about trying her hand at modeling.

When Brinkley-Cook was just starting out, her mom would tell her that her own career meant that "doors are opened" for her, but she had to put in her own hard work to keep them open and make the most of it.

"I really did," Brinkley-Cook tells PEOPLE of working hard at modeling. "Every room that I walked into, I tried to be the most gracious. I tried to be the most kind. I really got to know everyone on set."

Brinkley told her daughter to absorb everything she could from each set she was on, reminding her that she's only one piece of the "massive machine" when it comes to a photo shoot.

"I tried to really learn as much as I could from the producers, the makeup artists, the hair people, the photographers, the casting directors," Brinkley-Cook shares. "Everyone that works in this industry is so smart and so talented. My mom reminded me that a model is just one part of it all."

    DAILYMAIL.COM STORY ON SAILOR & SACRED+DIVINE FROM 11/22/22

Sailor Brinkley Cook is perhaps best known for following in the footsteps of her famous mother, supermodel Christie Brinkley, but the young model is also attempting to make a name for herself.

Sailor, 24, has launched a new company that sprang from her efforts to deal with anxiety, especially during the pandemic.

Speaking on Today with Hoda and Jenna Tuesday, the young entrepreneur described the impetus for her new company, Sacred + Divine.

'Over the pandemic, I was dealing with probably the worst parts of my anxiety and my therapist told me, "just put your phone down and be completely aware and observant of your surroundings," and I would do that and it created this mindful, very grounding moment for me throughout my day,' she said.

'I started seeing these numbers, these repetitive numbers and I started learning about them, like 111 and 333 and 222, are angel numbers.'

The new company sells not only jewelry, but scented candles and room sprays featuring numbers one through five and seven through nine.

Each repetitive number stands for a feeling or action such as 'manifestation,' 'change,' or 'abundance.'

Sailor explained, 'They really are these universal signs that give us a little bit of hope and I started seeing them everywhere, so it was like a beautiful moment for me of connection.'

'These candles and these necklaces are sort of bringing in those mindful, grounding moments into your everyday life.'

The Dancing with the Stars alum has been open about her struggles with mental health issues, including anxiety and body dysmorphia, explaining, 'I find that the more you speak about these scary things, the less scary they feel.'

'I know that everyone deals with something really hard in their life,' she continued, 'and we're all going through a secret struggle... I hope it will help someone else who deals with similar issues.'

When navigating new situations, the runway veteran often relies on her mom's advice. 'Her number one thing that she always told me to be was to be grateful and gracious.

'So, I really stuck to that and I made it a priority to every room I walked in to to be very grateful and really say hello to everyone and absorb the knowledge that everyone has to give.'

The cover model looked stunning in a sleeveless gold and black midi dress with a boat neck collar, gathered waist and tiered skirt.

Her long blonde locks were styled in loose waves and accessorized with large hoop earrings and one of her Sacred +Divine necklaces for the appearance.

She later donned a black trench coat as she left the NBC studios.
