Haylie Duff Bio

The older sister of actress and teen pop sensation Hilary Duff, Haylie Duff kicked off her career by focusing more on her skills in front of the camera than her talents behind a microphone. Though she would pen the occasional tune for her younger sibling, it was screen roles in such television hits as Chicago Hope, Boston Public, and (alongside her sister) Lizzie McGuire that first opened the eyes of the public to the talents of the ambitious rising starlet. Born just two years prior to her sister, Haylie made her screen debut alongside Hilary in the female Western True Women before branching out into features with supporting performances in Dreams in the Attic and I Love Your Work. It was during this period of her career that Haylie would contribute to the soundtracks of such films as A Cinderella Story, Stuck in the Suburbs, and Raising Helen, with a memorable performance in the cult hit Napoleon Dynamite serving well to offer her some indie exposure in addition to her mainstream success. A subsequent return to the small screen found Haylie making a notable impression in That's So Raven, Joan of Arcadia, and 7th Heaven, and in 2006 it was finally time to join Hilary on the big screen (as sisters no less) for the riches-to-rags comedy Material Girls. Also that same year, Haylie made her Broadway debut as the character Amber Von Tussle in the musical Hairspray. In 2008 Haylie hosted the MTV reality competition show Legally Blonde the Musical: The Search for Elle Woods, in which singers competed to star in the upcoming production of the Broadway musical of the hit film Legally Blonde.

About Alison Ver Halen:

Alison Ver Halen and I am the owner and president of AV Writing Services. I graduated from Lawrence University with a degree in English and Psychology, as well as a minor in Theater, and although I didn’t know it at the time, it turned out to be the perfect degree for content marketing: the English degree taught me how to use language and storytelling, while the Psychology degree taught me what drives people and how to motivate them to buy. I graduated in 2009 – the Great Recession had just begun and there were no jobs to be had for an eager, fresh-faced college graduate such as myself. So I answered phones, ordered office supplies, filed paperwork, etc. They were jobs that almost paid the bills, but they were not careers. At one point, I found myself between jobs and my roommate at the time talked to her dad, who was an attorney, and he offered to give me things to do around his office until I got back on my feet. One of the things he needed was someone to write blog posts for his law firm, and knowing I had a strong writing background, he asked if I’d be interested. As someone who has been reading and writing ever since I learned my alphabet, I jumped at the chance to get paid to write. So I started writing 2-4 blog posts per month for him, and after six months, he told me that my blog posts had brought in $75,000 worth of business for his law firm. That was several years ago, and since then, I have only gotten better at what I do. Not only do I write better blog posts, but I have added SEO and content strategy skills so that my clients’ content has a better chance of showing up in online searches. My minor in Theater has been put to use in the form of public speaking, which I have used to educate my fellow small business owners and solopreneurs about the benefits of content marketing.
