Let's try this again. 

Last time Aaron John Gregory of KHôRADA, Squalus and Giant Squid was on, we ended it early.  This encounter was much more pleasant.  We were a bit rushed though as we decided to record right before going to perform as main support for Melvins.  Our energy was up, attitudes were good, and beer and music was flowing.

We settled into some nice conversations about IBUs, ABV, Video Games, Roombas and thankfully AJ rarely mentioned Ska.  Join Us!

Ladd Rutherford and I have been friends for a long time.  We met in Junior High in Bozeman, Montana in the early '90s and shortly thereafter formed our first band together, V.B.G.  We were immersed in death metal and grindcore in the heyday of the genres and melded some of our favorite bands in our first musical enterprise.

In this first installment of several, we take a look at the music we made together as we escape to a remote village on a peninsula in the Pacific Ocean and examined V.B.G.'s first demo, "Staff Infection."

Ione and I had been discussing for a while starting a series of podcasts, shorter episodes that exist in the larger body of IHM, that focus on bands or artists we both enjoy, but that we assume most listeners of I Hate Music would not enjoy.  We are calling this series "In Defense of...", and this is the first installment.  

21 Pilots are very hit and miss for me, but I find them clever, ominous, subversive and at times, even heavy?  Ione and I decided to get to the bottom of this and explore the world of this Ohio duo.

YOB has been a leading force in doom metal for a long time, but in the previous few years they have reached a level of success few achieve, and it is richly deserved.  YOB tends to defy, and define heavy music all at once.  2018 brought us the release of "Our Raw Hearts," YOB's latest album, and after months of being on the road, bassist Aaron Rieseberg joined me for beers, music and bass geekery while we collectively tried to remember which countries we have toured.
