In this episode, Dave and Dusty take the show on the road as we join Daywind Recording artist Chosen Road on their bus for an insightful conversation. Yes, there's some bus noise, but the conversation is casual, authentic, and unedited and we think you'll enjoy it.
If you've never heard Chosen Road, we encourage you to go find some of their music and then come back for the interview. Spoiler alert - Get ready to smile!
This is PART 2 of our conversation with Derric Johnson. As a Pastor, musician, and composer, he defines a new standard for dreaming big and has the stories and resume to back it up. As the founder of The Re'Generation, one of the most successful traveling groups in Christian Music history, and over 30 years as a creative consultant with Disney, his insights are fascinating.
As the interview was drawing to a close, the mics were shut off, and thank-yous exchanged. We asked him one more question about Christmas at Disney. As he began to tell the story, we turned the mics back on, and we think you'll be glad we did.
Oh, by the way... Did we mention he's 92 years old?
Part 1 of our episode with Derric Johnson. It’s the interview we didn’t know if we would ever get. He is one of the most creative, inspiring, influential people you will find anywhere.
He is a musician, composer, Pastor, and founder of the group Re’Generation. Not only that, but for over thirty years, he was a musical consultant for Disney, and his musical arrangements left an indelible imprint on anyone who has visited the park over the last several decades.
He is also the consummate encourager who has inspired generations of musicians to dream bigger than they thought possible. That includes Dave and Dusty. Did we mention he’s 92 years old? His unique ability as a storyteller makes this an episode you won’t want to miss.
When you start to peel back the stories behind some of the biggest songs in Christian Music, over and over you find the name Randy Cox in the middle of them all.
In his quiet and unassuming way, Randy helps us connect the dots on some pretty amazing songs and stories from the past 40 years. Interviews like this are why we LOVE to tell the story.
While you may not be familiar with his name, If you listen to country, bluegrass, or southern gospel music, you have undoubtedly been affected by Kyle Cantrell.
As a longtime voice of WSM Radio, former program director for Sirius Enlighten and Bluegrass Junction, and current host of BanjoMusic.com, you can just imagine the stories he can share.
In fact, that's the reason this interview goes a little longer than most of our episodes. Just as we thought the interview was about to end, the conversation veered into some stories we are confident you won't hear anywhere else.
Sit back and enjoy the interview.
It's our one-year podcast Anniversary and we invited Josh Singletary to help us celebrate. Join us for a special conversation filled with some memories, plenty of stories, and enough laughter to guarantee a smile on your face.
Happy Anniversary to us! Come join the party!

She toured with iconic Country Music Hall of Famer George Jones’ band on his final tour of Canada, she performs regularly on the Grand Ole Opry with ACM Award-winner and Opry member, Mark Wills, Emily Ann Roberts, Grand Ole Opry members, the Isaacs. She has been the pianist for Gaither Homecoming series tapings featuring Bradley Walker and actor, Dennis Quaid.
Singer, songwriter, author, and humorist Mark Lowry is best known for penning the lyric to the Christmas classic "Mary Did You Know?" and singing baritone for the GRAMMY © Award winning Gaither Vocal Band for many years.
Mark Lowry is not your typical Christian Music singer and this interview with Dave and Dusty is not the typical Mark Lowry interview.
On Friday, July 26, word began to spread about the horrific plane crash that claimed the lives of seven people, including three members of The Nelons, one of Christian Music's most loved groups. On a more personal level, we lost some of our dearest friends and there are no words to adequately capture the heaviness of these past few days.
Rather than posting our normal scheduled podcast, we decided to just sit down this evening and try to talk through it.
This is that conversation...
Join us for a conversation with five-time Grammy and eleven-time Dove Award-winning artist Larnelle Harris. He has achieved nineteen #1 radio singles and countless top 10 hits. Songs such as "How Excellent Is Thy Name," "I Miss My Time With You," and "I've Just Seen Jesus," plus many others, including his signature song, "Amen," are now considered modern gospel music classics.
Interviews like this one are why we love to tell the story. Stories you won't hear anywhere else and won't forget anytime soon.
