  • Black Friday Beatdown in Lincoln: Hawks beat Huskers 40-16

    Iowa beat Nebraska 40-16 on Black Friday, marking the Hawks 7th straight win against the Huskers in Lincoln, the largest winning streak against Nebraska since Oklahoma won 8 in row there from 1943-57.

    Mark Gronowski threw for 166 and a touchdown, adding 64 rushing yards and another two rushing TDs.

    The defense stiffened up after allowing Emmett Johnson to 177 yards in the first half. But for the most part, the Huskers were kept out of the endzone when they got close and didn't score a point in the second half.

  • Fourth-quarter comeback helps Hawks avoid disaster against Spartans

    For 3/4ths of Saturday's game against the Spartans, Iowa looked like a completely different team that took Indiana, Oregon and USC to the wire.

    Iowa was down 17-7 in the 4th, and scored 13 points to knock off the Spartans, still winless in Big Ten play, 20-17. Mark Gronowski completed some clutch passes and threw for 117 of his 147 yards in the final quarter, including one touchdown pass to Jacob Gill.
