Episode 7 of What in the Shibal with Soogia and Ed Choi dives into language and how your immigrant parents approach language in the home affects the children's identity. A conversation of language naturally includes a conversation around communication and the importance of communicate between parent and child to help the child develop into a well rounded person and the challenges that are faced when the immigrant parent and naturalized child aren't able to communicate on the levels needed to have deep and meaningful conversations. And this conversation also comes with unpacking some trauma surrounding the effect the lack of communication due to language had on our upbringing.
