Should we believe all the hype about the controversy surrounding the March and keep us from marching? What do you think? You can find the Kingston Women's History Month events that she is involved with at their Facebook page.
Our first guest is Marcina Hale, co-producer of the highly impactful film "Disturbing the Peace" and co-founder of Reconsider, an organization that sparks innovation, encouraging creativity, and forms community to make our world more compassionate and connected. She asks the complicated questions, "if you're willing to stand up for someone, are you willing to stand with everyone?" She shares about the 5 movements of transformation that take place during her Reconsider workshops as well as her super top secret, secret of how to be a better human..."stop, drop and roll." You can also hear Marcina's TEDxKCWomen HERE.

Seeking to slow things down and reconnect with what was most important to her, she moved from Brooklyn to the Hudson Valley. There's an abundance of creativity flowing from her even though she's not recording or touring, and she is just allowing it to come into form without plan or judgement...more will be revealed!

Girl Talk get's cute with an audio recording of Shana and Mike singing Theresa "Happy Birthday." Haha... Love celebrating Theresa. Then we go deep into the subject of doubt and whether it's useful or not and how to move past it. What are your thoughts?
Our first guest today is Jennifer Dignon of Heart Child Yoga. She is a yoga teacher and therapist here in the Hudson Valley, working mostly with kids and kids with special needs. Before she became a yoga teacher, she was a teacher for special needs kids. She always brought yoga into the work that she did and explains how it helps to make the children feel better and relax. She talks about how children are often misunderstood, about how their abilities BECOME disabilities from adults and educators perspectives, which she consistently works to redefine. Using yoga, sound healing, dance, essential oils, and her Conscious Support Method of tapping into the children's feelings in the present moment, she is really able to serve these special humans who she refers to as her gurus.
Our second guest today is Lara Hope, a local Hudson Valley touring musician. Her band is Lara Hope and the Ark-Tones.They just got back from a whirlwind tour opening for Brian Setzer of the band The Stray Cats. Lara shares about her growing success, hard work ethic, her ability to keep moving forward, and how getting the booking agent of her dreams who focuses on roots music was the missing piece of the puzzle. Hear the story of a super fan who saved their van and their show in Hudson, and Lara's favorite story from someone who benefited from their music when they were overseas in a military barracks. Lara talks about supporting female fronted bands and being around women on tour which can be a rarity. She leaves for tour again later this January, check out her dates HERE.
Self care is all about cake today! Well sort of. Theresa is serenaded by friends and co-workers with chocolate cake, but then we do get into it with self-care wisdom by Lara Hope. Neurofeedback, talk-therapy, nutrition and yoga are what she turns to. Theresa is back to journaling, her own form of talk therapy, and of course, cake.
Today's show was engineered by Manuel Blas of Radio Kingston. We heard a clip from the film RBG, Lara Hope and the Ark-Tones and Shana Falana. Until next week, love yourself and uplift one another!

Happpppppy New Year listeners! We're Girl Talking about What did you do for New Years Eve? What does New Year's mean to you? Do you set intentions for the year? We did, sort of.
Our first guest today is Meghan Don, is an Award-Winning Author, Multi-Faith Minister, and an Initiate of the Sophian Lineage. She has worked extensively with the Christian mystics, the Kabbalistic teachings, and Jungian psychology. She is renowned for her work in helping to raise the feminine consciousness and confidence in our world. Meghan talks about us (people) as mythic beings, and why it is so difficult for women to come forward, why is there that nagging feeling of not being 'enough', and why is it a struggle to be confident? Theresa interviews her about the seven faces of the feminine which goes deeply into into her latest book "The New Divine Feminine". Check out her upcoming events happening in the Hudson Valley.
Our second guest today is Elly Swope. Shana met her on her last tour to the west coast. Elly is a recording engineer working out of Destination Universe in Portland Oregon. She moved to Portland 8 years ago to find her people, which she did immediately. She is a multi-instrumentalist, self taught guitarist and professional drummer. The interview deep dives into the challenges of staying positive in the music industry and how she decided to fall in love with the "process and the journey". She's been touring with bands out of Portland and also just released her new EP: It Feels The Same Everytime. ** There was some technical difficulty with this recording software, you may hear some wifi disfunction on Elly's end and some echo on Shana's end, but it came out beyond that so we aired it!
Self Care...it's that time to talk about how we are taking care of ourselves!!! Shana talks about finding herself in a mild state of depression, allowing herself to be in it and then how trusting herself helps her move through it. Theresa talks about feeling the fire of 2019! It seems to be the theme coming through for 2019. To quote her We'moon calendar book, it's time to "crank up the heat. We need to be on fire this year, but whether we feel the hearth fire of the gathering collective, the fire of a combustion engine, or just burn the house down--that will be up to us and how we use the aspects." Feel the fire, use that energy for good, and have an amazing 2019!

Happy Holidays Folks!
We taped this show just for you!!! We hope you're all having a good holiday. Are you doing ok? Do you need to listen to the Food Psych Podcast because you're having some food issues coming up around the holidays? Need some Buddhism wisdom from the Ram Dass Podcast? We know that the holidays can be a challenging time.
Theresa and Shana share some stories about the concept of 'freedom' and the freedom you get from really experiencing the challenges of life, and how it can help you become a better you. Even though there's privilege to 'how' we experience these challenges, we can all play with looking at challenges from a different perspective.
Our first guest today is Belinda Downey, Aussie transplant, mom and screenwriter. Bel is a good friend of Theresa's who's been an inspiration to her as someone who manages to hold down a full time job, a baby and a commitment to her creative writing. Bel talks about how she got to the US, how finding a writing community was a motivating factor in getting here and how she balances work, toddler and staying connected to her writing amidst her many responsibilities. She shares about the differences between living in Australian and the US, ah hem...healthcare. Bel's been working on several screenwriting projects and ponders why so many of her main characters have historically been male and how when she finally wrote in female leads, the feedback she received was that they were not likeable. Misogyny or honest feedback. Tell us what you think!
Our second guest today is Tracey Helton, recovery activist and author of the book The Big Fix: Hope After Heroin. She is known as the 'heroine of heroin" and has been interviewed in too many publications to list here. They've been running stories about her passion for getting Narcan/ Naloxone into the hands of the public. She's saved over 300 lives worldwide just by mailing out the opiate reversing drug (which is 100% legal) but nearly impossible for most people to get, some states have it but most do not. She is a firm believer in harm reduction methods to help addicts get through life in the hopes that they will someday be able to get clean. Shana has been bringing Tracey's book into her weekly 12 step rehab meetings as an aid to the many heroin addicts desperate for recovery. What an honor to finally interview her years later and hear even more stories of HOPE and also find out how this mother of 3 is able to keep working so hard on the front lines of the opioid epidemic.

Hello Hello!!! How has your week been? We're gonna guess BIZZY!!!
OK!
Today on the show we wanted to talk about volunteering... it seems like this time of year folks come out to help those less fortunate, which is WONDERFUL but we also wanted to let you know that we can think about helping out all year round!
We are also giving a shout out to our listeners to tell us: what topics do you want us to cover in our next season? who do you want us to interview? what round-table discussion would you like us to have? Feel free to send us some ideas! We've been getting alot of good ideas from you already :)
Our first guest today is Dana Ronnquist who is a massage therapist and recent graduate of Wild Gather, Hudson Valley's School of Herbal Studies. Dana has taken her herbal skills to another level in opening Golden Hour Botanicals, a line of herbal body products and tinctures. Dana shares the challenges of working through several health crisis and the disappointment she experienced in the medical profession. After being diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, and receiving that diagnosis via a voicemail, Dana sought out the care of New Leaf, a Kingston and Vermont based naturopathic practice who really provided the care she was seeking. Her Crohn's diagnosis was followed up by a discovery of a large ovarian cyst which she learned later was actually due to endometriosis. This journey led her through challenging diets with limited food options as well as major weight fluctuation, the public's response to her losing weight, and a deeper understanding of what healthy really looks like.
Our second guest today is Lavender Suarez, a sound and energy healer based out of the Hudson Valley. She loves exploring music, even as a kid she played instruments quote un-quote 'wrong' just because she was just very curious about the way that sound worked. She worked with sound in abstracts all through her early life, she studied Art Therapy in college, and after she moved to the Hudson Valley she started working with Pauline Oliveros at the Deep Listening Institute. Did you know that there are tuning forks that work with acupressure points in the body? Through vibration you can reach the nervous system in the body, it helps to quiet the mind and relax the body, and this is what starts the therapeutic process. It's so amazing to hear her explain how her exploration has completely opened her up to a never ending world of vibration!

Hello listeners! Shana is BACK in the studio yay!
We also are asking our listeners for feedback and idea's as we are signed up for another season here, we are going to revamp our show, is there anything you're looking for, interested in that we're not covering? Tell us!
Amara Projansky is our first guest today! She is a Hudson Valley native, and also the Founder and CEO of Luminary Media, the publisher of Chronogram, Upstate House, Upstater, Explore the Hudson Valley and now The River. She dives deep into her childhood growing up in New Paltz with a single dad, being the oldest of 3 sisters, her relationship with her family and how it influenced her life today. She was always interested reading, writing and art, and did her own "self-guided home schooling" as she calls it at the age of 16, and was encouraged by her mother's husband to focus on her art and painting. Now 25 years later she reflects on the challenges and adjustments that have been made to keep growing the magazine and publishing company. How does she take care of herself as a mother and a CEO? As a lifelong meditator she continues to explore ways to create peace and balance within and has been practicing Continuum which we're curious to check out!
Our second guest today is Leigh Henrich. She works in music licensing and just recently started her own company Sweets and Pop Music !!! She has over 10 years in the music industry, but synch representation for indie artists is really where her heart is. She shares about growing up in a small town and heading out to the city, interning for companies like Nasty Little Man and Matador . She moved around a lot in the industry, she always knew she would do something in music, she was figuring out what resonated for her! She had great mentors and shares some secrets about her learning experiences I'm including a recent interview by Synchtank as well, definitely worth checking out... You will see how knowledgeable she is and determined and also personable and kind. Definitely an asset to the music industry!
*correction in the interview, Leigh Henrich wanted me to let you know she misspoke and said Nasty Girl but she meant to say Nasty Little Man.
Self care this week is: listening to Christmas Carols, setting boundaries to focus on personal priorities, and reaching out to friends to spend some much needed time.

ONE MORE WEEK and Shana returns. Calling in from Ohio today.
As we begin playing clips from the film RBG, we are still circling this conversation around anger as we ponder Associate Justice Ginsburg's mother's advice to her, "Be a lady, don’t be overcome by useless emotions like anger." Useless? Is it? Let us know what you think!
Our first guest today is Liz Baker, a Kingston community builder and uplifter who co-founded Broadway Arts as a place to bring community together and encourage creative activity and a celebration of the arts. Liz shares about the challenges of her youth, her mother's nervous breakdown, being in an out of trouble, living in foster homes and becoming pregnant at a very young age. When she experienced a life threatening automobile accident where the doctor's said she would never walk again, she began to take back her life and lean on her faith to not only walk again but to turn things around for herself. She's been active in pushing to repair police relations in her community after her son was wrongly attacked and tased by police just because his shorts' color matched the description of the someone the police were looking for. What makes Liz most happy? Spending time with her family. You can find Liz at the new juice bar opening at Broadway Arts in a few weeks, and wish her a happy birthday on December 18th!
Our second guest today is Rachael Pazdan. Former talent buyer for Le Poison Rouge in NYC, she is now curating and promoting through her own company Hypnocraft. She is also the creator of the HUM Series, "a unique all-female collaborative music series where female musicians collaborate, write, and perform new material live, in the center of the room, for the very first time. The Hum’s mission is to highlight the double standard in the industry that makes it unusual for audiences to experience a night of music composed entirely by women". As a kid Rachael just knew she was going to be at the head of something, she just didn't know it would be women in music. After overcoming an intense injury, she moved to NYC with determination, seems like a classic story, but her innovation and grit got her even further. Take a listen!
Self care time! Shana is listening to her body. She may not always like what it's saying, but she is promising to listen to it. She's also using lots of products from Dana Ronquist's line of herbal products. Theresa gives her new moon reading about wish fulfillment from the Anahata chakra wish-fulfilling tree...wish big but be careful what you wish for! New Moon this Friday, blessings to all!

Theresa is flying solo today while Shana is out on tour and winding her way back east!
Theresa welcomes guests Sarah Bisceglie founder of SEB Visions and Jeanne Brooks founder of Virago Futures for a lively show about anger, energy, healing, design thinking and truth telling. Sarah's work can be summed up as striving to make the world a better place by scaling great ideas. As a trained artist and healer, she integrates her many talents and passions into her visioning work to build mission driven organizations. Jeanne Brooks describes herself as an earth healer, energy worker, pleasure activist and community organizer who works in a heart-centered way to shift the systems of oppression and misogyny that exist within the "distressed patriarchal" world we currently live in. The two are collaborating on Truth Telling Playshops intended to help us live more fully in our authentic selves. We talk about the power and importance of feeling and seeing our anger (particularly as women), the need for greater safety and appreciation in our society, self care and speaking of...why social media is bad for all of us (maybe that's a Theresa characterization). It was hard to slow the conversation down. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!

Hello listeners! Hello! Happy gratitude week. Shana is calling in from the road, she's in the middle of her tour and at her mom's in Oregon on the west coast. We are wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving, and we talk about gratitude today.
Our first guest is Nada Khodlova a licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board Certified Dance Movement Psychotherapist. Nada has served so many over the years in a clinical setting and is now bringing the healing art of dance to women and girls as The Dancing Web. Dance was a healing source for her early on. She was very self conscious of her body as a young person, and studying dance helped her move into her discomfort and feel more comfortable in her own skin. Dance therapy works because the body, mind and spirit are connected, everything we experience is stored in our body, she discusses how words can't capture everything, so movement is more direct as a therapy, finding stories, sharing stories through movement. She shares about working in an adult psychiatric wing of a hospital, mostly dealing with crisis patience, and helped develop an arts therapy program.
Our second guest is Andrya Ambro of the band Gold Dime. Shana met her when she was doing sound for the Kim Gordon / Body-Head show at BSP last July. She was previously in a band called Talk Normal, and has done sound at Tonic and the Kitchen in NYC. As a female sound engineer she's a rarity!!! After majoring in jazz performance at NYU she developed her own sound, and being a drummer who primarily stands while drumming, she really stood out. She talks about having to work extra hard as a kid with learning disabilities, and also admits that she loves to practice, but performing is terrifying for her, but she moves through her fear, she doesn't let it hold her back. Her sound is very experimental and angular, she writes all the music and has her band play what she wrote and then she plays drums and sings, it's really incredible, check out her interview!
Not only is tomorrow Thanksgiving, but it's a FULL MOON tomorrow night so after you're done with your meal, don't forget to make time for your Full Moon ritual. It's time for the women to bring back the sacred rituals that have been lost over time. Eat and be merry, and listen to your belly to know when it's full. Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello Hello! Shana is calling in from Santa Barbara, and still out on tour.
During the week Theresa and Shana share various articles and podcasts with each other, this week Shana sent Theresa a new This American Life podcast episode "But That's What Happened", it peeks into the secret conversations that happen in the Mormon religion between bishops and young women and men around sexuality. Check it out and let us know what you think, it might be cathartic for those of you who have experienced this but never felt like you could talk about it! Theresa shared the article "#MeToo Will Not Survive Unless We Recognize Toxic Femininity". This is a topic we also want to explore more, it calls out women in the #metoo movement to own their own toxic behavior: "Until it (the movement) admits that women can be as manipulative and creepy and generally awful as men, the movement will continue to send a message that we’re not really whole people. And why would anyone believe someone like that?" Read it and tell us what YOU think!!!
Our first guest, Valeria Gheorghiu is an activist attorney who studied environmental and civil rights law and who is now incorporating restorative justice into her work. You can check out her website is HERE . Since college, she's been working to protect workers right, the earth and Indigenous Peoples rights and culture. She was naturally drawn to this work having learned about Starhawk and the destruction of paganism as a young child, and as an immigrant whose family was forced from their land and community in Romania. She's been cleaning the forests of garbage since age 12 on earth day, and works to live sustainably herself in a cooperative way with the earth and others and helps others do the same through her cooperative law work. Valeria came to Restorative Justice as a natural progression from her indigenous peoples advocacy and cooperative living and working. Restorative Justice empowers communities to resolve their own conflicts in a way where everyone is able transform and society benefits, #wisdomkeepers.
Our second guest today is Que Sera. DJ, mother, musician, performer, educator and free thinker! She lives in Brooklyn NY with her husband and collaborator Rahlou. Together they have a project called Streetlight Boutique which we feature in this interview. She shares about home schooling her and Ralou's boys, and working as an educator at the Park Avenue Armoury. Originally from Haiti, she had a very community oriented upbringing, she is worldly and exotic. Such a pleasure interviewing her for this, Shana was truly blown away by the abundant life she has and how she is raising her sons, not to mention the night life she is able to have as a performer, she really has it all! ENJOY!
Self Care is COMPLICATED!!!
