Ian talks about overcoming the odds in the acting industry and how he pursued his career with grit and passion.
Starting a career in acting can be a challenging journey, especially when faced with limited resources and societal biases. Despite having only $800 to his name and living in his car, Ian Verdun pursued his passion for acting and refused to let financial constraints and industry prejudice stop him. As a black actor who is also gay, he faced discrimination from both his skin color and sexual orientation, which were not fully accepted in the entertainment industry. But he persevered and worked various restaurant jobs to make ends meet, all the while writing pitch emails to casting directors and never losing sight of his dream. After ten long years of hard work and determination, he finally started to see some progress and even created and wrote his own pilot, Life's A Drag which ended up winning an award at Series Fest! Just when he thought he was at "rock bottom" an audition came along, and to his surprise, he booked it! This is a story of persistence, resilience, and the power of chasing your dreams no matter what obstacles come your way.
