During these unprecedented times, we are finding ourselves at home adopting a new normal. As one of the many million Americans under “Stay at Home” orders, I am inspired to share my personal resources with you to enhance your AT HOME experience. I did three shorter interviews this week around the theme of staying home. You will get to hear from my much-loved friends.
First, you’ll hear from award-winning Chef Mark Tarbell, owner of the acclaimed Tarbell’s, The Tavern and Tarbell’s Wine Store. In these ever-changing times, he converted his restaurant virtually overnight to a delivery and take-out model to serve his clients who have loyally dined at Tarbell’s for more than two decades. Mark has seized the day with bold and clever daily emails promoting delivery of flash meals, boxed lunches and fine wine selections curated daily. His commitment to his team, customers and community makes us remember why we should all spend our $$$ locally. He is a dear friend and I encourage you to support Tarbell’s.
Dr. Susan Wilder, founder of Lifescape Medical Associates is board certified in family medicine, certified in functional medicine, my personal concierge doctor and a dear friend for more than a decade. Susan’s traditional approach combined with a more modern, natural approach is the perfect solution for me, and I’m excited to share her wisdom with all of you for staying home, staying healthy and staying calm.
Vanessa Shaw is the leader of the Business Growth Academy and an outstanding certified professional coach. Also, my coach and friend, Vanessa’s no nonsense approach to business and mindset will snap you into place if you find yourself struggling with your business, working from home or adapting to change.

ICONIC HAUS...NOW VIRTUAL ICONIC HAUS
The Heart Center at Phoenix Children’s Hospital is the beneficiary of ICONIC HAUS 2020 proceeds, and I talked with him about ten days ago before the coronavirus news intensified this week. As Co-Director of The Heart Center, Dr. Franklin shared the latest initiatives and innovative research coming out of The Heart Center, and why our support matters. Following my interview with Dr. Franklin, dear friend and father Justin Lee, owner of Moving Team Six and ICONIC HAUS sponsor, shares his personal story of how PCH saved his daughter’s life, and why he always says “yes” to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Wayne Franklin
Dr. Wayne Franklin is a graduate of Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and UCLA School of Medicine. He did his residency training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Duke University, where he first was exposed to Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD). He then did two simultaneous fellowships in adult cardiology and pediatric cardiology at St. Luke’s/Texas Heart Institute and at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM)/Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) in Houston. In 2004, he founded the Texas Adult Congenital Heart Program, where he has served as Director from 2004-2018. In 2013, he was appointed Chief of Cardiology at the TCH Pavilion for Women, where he directed the clinical and administrative cardiovascular service lines. In September of 2017, he was selected as Head of the Department Adult Medicine at Texas Children's Hospital and Associate Vice Chair of Clinical Operations in the Department of Pediatrics. He is also the recipient of two prestigious Fulbright and Jaworski Awards of BCM Faculty Excellence, one in Teaching and one in Educational Leadership.
He came to Phoenix in 2018 to join Phoenix Children’s Hospital as the Co-Director of the Heart Center, the Director of the ACHD Program, and Chair of the Department of Adult Medicine. In addition, he is a Full Professor in three University of Arizona-College of Medicine-Phoenix Departments, including the Departments of Medicine, Child Health, and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Since his arrival, Dr. Franklin has transformed the care of adults with congenital heart disease in the Valley, and he has put together a team of experts in the field. Phoenix Children’s Hospital is now undergoing accreditation to become the first hospital in Arizona to be accredited to comprehensive care of patients with adult congenital heart disease
From an academic perspective, he is involved with several research projects on adults with congenital heart disease, specifically in patients with single ventricle-Fontan physiology, neurocognitive outcomes, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac disease in pregnancy, and most recently, transition medicine. Dr. Franklin has been appointed to several medical advisory boards in congenital heart disease, including the Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA), the Alliance for Adult Research in Congenital Cardiology (AARCC), and American College of Cardiology (ACC). Since 2018, he has been the Co-Director of the Heart Center at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. He has been an invited lecturer across North America, Europe, South America and South Asia.
He has offices in Central Phoenix, Scottsdale, Gilbert and Glendale. In his off-time, Dr. Franklin likes to spend time with his two children and his wife, Rachel McNeill, anchor at 12 News/NBC-Phoenix.
He remains a full-time husband, a lifetime father and a part-time golfer.

Desert Star Construction Shares 7 Ways to a Healthier Home
ICONIC HAUS 2020
Luxury design can take many forms—from a well-crafted piece of furniture to perfectly thought-out space planning, to the colors, textures, and materials used in a room. But for the right space, they must all converge seamlessly and create a feeling the client loves. Even more so, they should be timeless and reflect the personal lifestyle of the homeowner. And that’s exactly what Anita Lang, ASID and founder of Scottsdale-based IMI Design (est. 1992), does. Lang, who has been designing for more than two decades, always knew she had an eye for design. “I really think every human being has a gift to share with each other,” she says. “I happen to see spatially; it’s funny, as a young person, I didn’t realize others couldn’t. It took me awhile to understand it is the way my mind is particularly wired.” As an authority in her field, her straightforward and experienced approach is of service to clients across the spectrum including residential, commercial, and hotel properties in across the U.S. and international destinations, as well.
Anita, is a dear friend, a well-connected industry insider and will be designing the living room in ICONIC HAUS 2020, which we are very excited about. I met with her recently to discuss the difference between designing for clients on the East Coast versus clients on the West Coast that we are affectionately calling Manhattan to Manhattan Beach. Anita shares her creative process, starting out with a mediation to bring herself into the creative zone as well as the problem-solving aspect of being a designer. Inspiration for design can be found everywhere, Anita shares how her travels and everything she is exposed to influence her design decisions as well as the travels and experiences of her clients. It’s always great to spend time with Anita and I so admire her drive, her passion for life and her ability to really think outside the box. This podcast is also a story on iconiclife.com.
