On ‘The Israel Connexion’ this week because it overlaps with Rosh Hashana I am taking time off from my regular programming to bring you instead some audio excerpts from The Shabtai Shavit World Summit on Counter-Terrorism on the theme “Israel in the Eye of the Global Storm” which took place from September 15-18, 2025 at the Jusidman Conference Center, Reichman University, Israel. At the end of this program there was a powerful address by Mike Huckabee, US Ambassador to Israel.

The Shabtai Shavit World Summit on Counter-Terrorism is a premier global gathering dedicated to addressing the evolving landscape of terrorism and international security.

Each year, this pivotal summit brings together thought leaders, policymakers, security professionals, and academic experts from over 65 countries to engage in high-level discussions and strategic collaborations. From landmark events that shaped the global security agenda to the most pressing challenges of today, the summit provides a unique platform for dialogue, reflection, and innovation.

Over four days, participants experienced a dynamic program featuring keynote addresses from senior officials, expert panel discussions, workshop sessions, and special memorial tributes honouring those who have fallen in the fight against terror.

The summit covered a wide array of critical topics, from regional instability and technological threats to state-sponsored terrorism, ideological extremism, and the broader geopolitical shifts impacting global security.

In the first segment from the summit you will hear from Sebastian Gorka, Deputy Assistant to the US President & Senior Director for Counterterrorism, National Security Council, White House. (1:52-23:26)

Next up the speech from the summit by Prof Boaz Ganor, President, Reichman University; Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors , ICT, Reichman University, Israel. (23:26-32:12)
