Podfic Narration Time – “Branded Heart” by ashtraythief

Thanks to Ash (ashtraythief) for permission to narrate this pre-series, pre-slash Sam and Dean fic. Though not set in space and no dinosaur involvement, I enjoyed this outsider POV’s insight into Winchester love and heartache.

Please visit the fic (and all of Ash’s work) on AO3 and give it a kudo and comment - it deserves a ton of praise!

Summary:

Alice has been around for a long time, hunting for the hearts of those who love the most. And the tall boy with the shiny brown hair and the heavy backpack over his shoulder, his heart is full to the brim.

Sandra and Karlee have locked up all their ashtrays in preparation for this interview with Supernatural FanFic author Ash. You may know her as ashtraythief on AO3. She is also a mod for the anonymous comment meme SPN Masquerade.

Ash’s been posting fics on AO3 since 2013 and has almost 200 works listed. She primarily writes RPF featuring J2 with ABO, JDM, alternate universes, the final frontier, dinosaurs and dragons tossed in for good measure.

Want to read Ash’s stuff and connect? You can find her on AO3 and tumblr.

Sandra and Karlee invited SPN FanFic Author MJ (Incog_Ninga, Thoughts Like a Minefield) to discuss FanFic and its effect on sexual agency for readers and writers alike. It was a great chat!

Sandra and Karlee gave themselves the difficult task of picking some peak acting moments of Jared and Jensen on Supernatural. Have a listen and let them know if you agree. Any that you think they missed? Also, welcome to Season 3 of Idling in the Impala!

Sandra and Karlee were thrilled to welcome back Supernatural FanFic author Amy. You may know her as dugindeep on AO3. She is part of the moderating team for the anonymous comment meme SPN Masquerade. Listen to the episode where we had her and Ash on to discuss kinky prompts here.

Amy’s been posting fics on AO3 since 2011 and has a library of over 200 stories. She primarily writes RPF and Wincest, occasionally dabbling into other pairings. She’s responsible for a ton of wish fulfillment regarding her prompt stories. According to Karlee, Amy’s also responsible for a lot of fanfic blue balls. Have a listen to this great discussion on writing fanfic and the supportive community of creativity it can create.

Want to scroll through her massive library of work? You can find dugindeep (hotsauce) on AO3.

We asked Amy for one of her personal favorites that she’s written, and she mentioned “This Long Silence” (J2 AU - Mature).
