This week on I'm a Pole Dancer, I chat with PSO Unicorn Mallory Linda about Pole Competitions - specifically we get into the details of one of the most widely known competitions world wide, Pole Sport Organization (PSO). For PSO, there is something in it for EVERYONE (and we mean everyone!) and we get into those details of levels, categories, and some rules! Speaking of competitions, this weekend is PSO Scorpio where yours truly will be competing!

CW: Discussion of self harm
Today I'm joined by Sarah Jickling, who shares her personal story about her struggles with mental health and how pole has played a part in that. We discuss a variety of topics including how pole has helped our mental health, contributed to it, and how not everybody is built the same way. This episode is very near and dear to my heart as I struggle with mental health issues myself, and hope that by talking about these issues it may help another person.

Today I bring my friend Elspeth onto the show to talk about Pole Trends that sweep Instagram! Elspeth is a pole instructor and competitor who has been getting noticed on instagram for her wicked shapes. We talk about the fun trends, like tricks we get caught up doing, the "Don't Rush" challenge, but also dive into the issue of when Instagram cracked down on pole dancers, and how this affected us as a community.

****WARNING: Episode contains graphic descriptions of various injuries sustained while pole dancing. Listener discretion is advised.
What an honour it is to have one of my pole models come on and tackle this topic with me! Today, pole champion DracuLauraMayhem (aka Laura) discuss the extent of our injuries we've sustained while pole dancing, the recovery process, and some incredible feats of determination. Laura has some crazy stories, and her injuries are very much a part of her story to becoming a champion.

I am SO honoured and happy to have my dear friend Steph Sia (aka Kim Chi) come and join me for the very first episode! You can't talk about pole without talking about stripping. Steph is a pole and exotic dancer with many many side hustles. She joins me to chat about some of the origins of pole dance, which does take roots in strippers and sex workers. We also chat about the stigma behind sex workers, the divide between pole "sport" and "dance" and the various styles of exotic dance. Steph also hosts her own podcast called Stripped by Sia - so if you like what you hear, go join her where she interviews so many wonderful sex workers - this episode only skims the surface!
You can find Steph on Instagram at siasteph, strippedbysia (podcast), siaaroundtheworld (travelling blog), and siaslurps (food). Stripped by Sia is available on all platforms where podcasts can be found.
