I'M SO POPULAR

I like you a lot... the ecstatic art of watching men, men at the lake, men playing sports, men being twins... the photography of BRUCE WEBER + Richard Linklater's EVERYBODY WANTS SOME. Beauty beyond all measure as an access into the true abyss of lust for life...

Between the shapeless curtains of idle chatter and the ripples of water in a bathhouse, two debut novels by English homosexuals: Ronald Firbank's VAINGLORY (1915) + Allen Hollinghurst's THE SWIMMING POOL LIBRARY (1988). Fused together, these two beautifully uppity books communicate a private sublimity in the homosexual shadow over the world through a stained glass window, gay cruising, beautiful men on the train, OnlyFans, real sexuality, porn theaters, blood on the bedsheets...

War and suffering: between the gloom of World War I in the poetry of Siegfried Sassoon and the laser glare of MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM.... Cuteness Unit and Chi Chi bash their helmets against impossible to talk about soap opera until some kind of meaning pierces through. Long silences. Women floating through space. Newtypes and empathy and the battle between futurism and humanism."Brutal." Tragedies so real and punishing they bleed into the post apocalyptic twilight of I'M SO POPULAR. Chi Chi sheds real tears; You Will See the Tears of Time.

I'm just a girl... all pretty and petite... discussing the confessional poetry of Anne Sexton and confessional Frankenstein female suffering of Gwen Stefani from the trenches of the Harajuku Holocaust to the frying pan massacre of Orange County: Jo appears with Chi Chi to synthesize the woman's world of micro tragedies into something more luxurious, more unhinged, more archetypal. TRAGIC KINGDOM, RETURN OF SATURN, LOVE. ANGEL. MUSIC. BABY. Judaism, Japonism, Black Peopleism (?) all thrust into a melt so this gorgeous woman with a bindi on her head and pink hair dye in her locks can ascend to the holy levels of heaven.

Chi Chi and his newest idol Monica join together in a loving embrace to idolize the male form on earth: MARLON BRANDO and two of his greatest films, ON THE WATERFRONT and REFLECTIONS IN A GOLDEN EYE. The unholy fusion of Brando's trash lifestyle (sushi pigouts, promiscuous sexuality, death and murder) with his gilded shimmering art films conjures the Great Spirit of Life: Passion! Lust! Sex Drive! All the things that make the world beautiful beyond measure as we recreate the new universe with full hearted acceptance of the divine libidinal will.

Chi Chi's first friend in Tokyo arrives out of the neon circuits of Harajuku and Shinjuku and Kabukicho, Tokyo, to fuse together three pieces of film concerning beautiful white foreign women in Japan: LOST IN TRANSLATION, HBO GIRLS and THE RAMEN GIRL. The vision they piece together is a lonely trial of the soul, video game texture mexaplexes, cat cafes, a creation of the self via exposure to the exterior, Pocari Sweat, reckless collage of stereotype, atomic bombs and -- I DON'T UNDERSTAND! WHY AM I HERE?!

The Gods have been slain and their world has come to an end. But the new world begins! ZACH LANGLEY CHI CHI ascends to shape this strange and virgin reality to his own vision. He initiates the demonic sacrament: a fusion of high and low art to conceive of new philosophy and new scripture for this unholy landscape. Willing themselves out of the soup, "I'M SO POPULAR" alumni Fella and Sasha Amato join Chi Chi in melding F.T. Marinetti's THE MANIFEST OF FUTURISM with Atlas's 2021 video game SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI V.

Endless speed, the destruction of history, massacre of the deities, nuclear war, ecstasy in reality, and at the end of it all, a single question:

How will you make the new world?

Chi Chi takes a walk to through northern Shinjuku to reflect on her recent performance of Kate Bush's "Babooshka" at the infamous Metro Club Party in Nagoya, the art of lip syncing, mediocrity, and the never-ending pursuit of fame through artistic accomplishment.
