Jeremy Grantham is a British investor and co-founder and chief investment strategist of Grantham, Mayo, & van Otterloo. He is chairman of the board, and deals with long-term investment strategy. In 1998 Jeremy and his wife Hanne established the Grantham Foundation for the Protection of the environment to which they committed approximately 98% of their net worth. Through the foundation they established the Grantham research Institute on climate change and the environment at the London school of economics.

Part of Jeremy's goal is to influence others to to be "a little greener in their giving and greener in their investing"

When we actively fund and promote a cause, we often have fully formed ideas on what the outcome should be and ideas on how to achieve that aim.

But when we become part of a greater group, those ideas might be outvoted and discarded by the rest of the group. This doesn't have to be a negative as Dr Jason Franklin, the WK Kellogg Community Philanthropy Chair at the Johnson Center in Michigan reveals. Dr Franklin shared his insights into the challenges and the very real achievements that he's seen emerge from collaborative philanthropy.

Christiana Figueres is a global authority on climate change. She champions a positive outlook on the climate crisis- that if we make change now, the world will not only survive, it will adapt and thrive - albeit in a very different way.

Ms Figueres has been credited with creating a new brand of collaborative diplomacy. In her role as the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change she brought together disparate groups, national and sub-national governments, corporations and activists, financial institutions and communities of faith. She led the process to deliver the historical Paris Agreement of 2015.

The 2019 Australia summer started early and hit hard. By the time fires were brought under control, more than 12.6 million hectares of land had burnt and scientists and fire personnel are warning that this is Australia's new reality due to the climate crisis.

Fire brings both destruction and protection. In the light of the recent Black Summer of bushfire that devastated parts of Australia there are questions whether we need more back burning - or a different approach.

Dr Phil Zylstra, a research fellow from the University of Wollongong, is an expert in fire behaviour. He examines ways to work with natural landscape and vegetation defences against fire. Phil has spent many years examining the efficiency and role of using fire to prevent and slow bushfires.
