How do you leave the country without leaving Arizona?
Dale and Brian recount their challenging experience installing an expansive 8,000-square-foot playground in the Navajo Nation on New Year's Day. Despite the project's complexity and cold weather, the brothers were determined to complete the project with integrity. Their determination to see it through led them to persist despite their difficulties.
At the time, they did not realize that this project would serve as a catalyst, opening doors to half a million square feet of future projects. It's a testament to the idea that perseverance and commitment to doing what's right, even in the face of adversity, can bring significant outcomes.
The brothers reflect on the importance of pushing forward through challenges, staying true to your principles, and dedicating yourself to completing tasks despite their difficulty. This experience serves as a reminder that enduring hardships with determination can often lead to unexpected and substantial rewards, providing valuable lessons in resilience and the power of unwavering commitment.

For this month’s special feature, Dale and Brian are sharing another segment from Moments with Fred. In this segment, Fred Karmie shares his thoughts on the educational system as it stood back in the 80s.
Fred sought higher education and the American dream when he came to America. After graduating college, he began to teach. But the educational system he found was different from what he was expecting. While he loved the students entrusted to him, he was frustrated with the system and found that many students didn’t care. This troubled Fred, who fought against all odds to obtain an education.
While this segment was recorded 40 years ago, it is just as timely today as it was back then. We face many of the same educational challenges, some arguably worse than when Fred recorded his thoughts.
Listen along with the brothers as they glean insight and reflect on the words their father shared decades ago.

How do you handle it when somebody lets you down?
In September of 2006, the ForeverLawn Albuquerque office was getting into a good groove. The office staff threw a party on a Friday to celebrate the 4th birthday of the business… but to Dale and Brian’s surprise, one of their integral office members didn’t show up the following Monday.
Where was she? Was she ok? The brothers attempted to contact her with no success. A few days passed, and the employee’s friend brought her keys to the office and informed them that she had moved back to her out-of-state home.
Dale and Brian had a lot of questions… Why didn’t she tell them? Was she unhappy? They had two options: Be bitter and upset, or learn from it and move on.
Beyond the changes in the office, the California market was also experiencing unexpected changes. Tune into this episode to hear how the brothers responded and the lessons they learned from them.

Are you open to following God’s calling on your life?
As Dale and Brian share about their journey of moving to New Mexico, building a business, and eventually moving back to Ohio, it’s easy to see the thin threads between these changes.
It all started with an article Brian saw that Dale’s alma mater was putting in a turf field; then, the brothers were on a business trip in New Mexico and noticed people had rocks painted green in their yards to simulate grass.. Thin threads like these connect the dots and lead them to start a turf business and eventually return to Ohio to stay and establish ForeverLawn.
In late summer of 2006, Dale was visiting Ohio to take his son Derek to a football training camp when he took some time to teach his niece how to drive. While driving around, he saw a ‘for sale by owner’ sign that led him to a house. Dale later realized this was the house he and his wife Lorie had looked at online.
As the two share, all of these decisions were made by following God’s leading on their lives. Tune in today as the brothers share how God paved the way for them to return to Ohio and plant their roots.

How do you sell a premium product in a commoditized market?
In today’s episode, Dale and Brian discuss ForverLawn’s emergence into the sports field market. When they first came onto the scene, they quickly realized that the sports field market was highly commoditized.
ForeverLawn had a high-value, quality product, making it higher priced... So, the challenge was to find a way to compete with lower-priced, lower-quality products in a market almost solely focused on price.
As they discuss this challenge, the brothers share about the long road that eventually led to installing a SportsGrass field at the Pro Football Hall of Fame and a partnership with the Cleveland Browns.
This is a story of how ForeverLawn came into an already established market and redefined it. Join us today to hear this remarkable story of perseverance and determination.

This may sound like a riddle, but it’s reality - How you carry yourself will attract different questions. For this reason, if you are intentional about your actions, you can, in turn, lead people to ask the questions you are eager to answer.
On this stop in the ForeverLawn story, the Karmie brothers share about the sale of the New Mexico market and the process of training up the new team. This transition period, like any other transition, brought its own set of challenges and a couple of surprises.
Eventually, things all started to work together, and Dale & Brian went out with a bang on their final install in Albuquerque. As they often do, the brothers leave us all with a challenge to look for the ‘uncomfortable zone.’ Tune in and enjoy the journey as told by Brian and Dale Karmie.

Have you ever bought a Rhino?
In case you’re wondering - we’re referring to a Yamaha Rhino, not a live one. One that, in the fall of 2006, the Karmie brothers hadn’t yet purchased... But they soon would after a large project.
In this week’s episode, Dale and Brian are sharing about a time when ForeverLawn was tasked with their largest project in Albuquerque at that point. This project included 27,000 square feet of turf for a school.
The brothers and their crew ran into some twists and turns along the way, so this episode is packed with some fun stories. Ultimately, the project was a success and is still considered one of the most impactful projects in ForeverLawn history.
Dale and Brian share some laughs as they recount some of the memories from this project, but that doesn’t take away from the impactful lessons they learned along the way and share with us today.
The further you go, the further you see. And the further you see, the further you can go.
