If you could go anywhere on vacation, where would you go?
In 2006, ForeverLawn received an inquiry from a gentleman in Destin, Florida, asking if they could install turf on a balcony. To this point, they had not installed turf on a balcony, but the brothers knew that they would be able to do it and do it well. Does anyone remember the Parkchester story from a few episodes back?
With this installation being in Destin, Florida, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to bring their families along and turn it into a vacation. So Dale and Brian packed up their families and headed to Florida.
After an eventful installation, the project turned out to be a tremendous success. One of the photos even ended up being used on the ForeverLawn website and other marketing material for years to come. Stay tuned on our Instagram @impact_withoutlimits this week for the picture!
Tune in to hear this fun story and enjoy as the brothers recount some of the twists and turns that happened along the way.

If you keep on the path that you’re currently on, where will you be in 5 years?
In today’s episode, Brian and Dale revisit a monumental time in their lives and the history of ForeverLawn, Inc. In early 2006, a lot happened in the Karmie family and the business. Brian’s daughter Ava was born, and Jim, one of the other Karmie brothers, had to have a major and unexpected surgery. The brothers realized that the longer they stayed in Albuquerque, the deeper their roots grew.
With this eye-opening medical emergency and their growing families, reality was setting in. They had family back on the East Coast that they only saw once or twice a year. Before this realization, they had been tossing back and forth whether to stay in the local market or focus on building the national brand. Then it occurred to them - they could run the national business from anywhere…
Tune in to this episode to listen as they recount the many thoughts and factors that went into the decision to focus on the national brand and eventually move back to Ohio.

How does where you are, change your perspective?
Sometimes we can look at the same situation as someone else but from different angles. We can be focused on the same thing but see it entirely differently. Perspective can vary greatly, but that doesn’t necessarily mean one is right and the other is wrong.
In today’s episode, Dale and Brian share about the early growth of ForeverLawn Inc. and how they were faced with a decision to focus either on the national brand or the local business. On the one hand, they were seeing great potential for growth in the Florida market with Playground Grass, but on the other hand, massive amounts of inquiries were rolling in on the ForeverLawn Inc. side.
Ty, their friend and Florida dealer was feeling strongly that focusing on the Florida market was the way to go, but the brothers couldn’t shake the feeling that the national business was where they needed to set their focus. Tune in to hear how they worked together to move forward in the company.

Have you ever chugged a gallon of fermented iced tea?
In December 2005, ForeverLawn’s growth was still on the rise. The first annual conference was held in January 2005. Still, with Brian’s wife Angie expecting a baby in the first of the coming year, they decided to have the second conference in December.
The conference was held in Dalton, GA, where the turf was manufactured. Despite the ongoing website issues and some trouble with some K9Grass being burnt in production, excitement was growing, which was a big moment for the business.
While the present-day conference is planned in advance, with speeches discussed and vetted, the early conferences were more loosely planned. In this episode, the brothers share some of the stories that arose from that second conference. Some of these stories are funny, some cringe-worthy, but in the end, Dale and Brian always find a way to see the good. Overall, lessons were learned, and the success ForeverLawn was propelled forward.
You’ll face storms, but when you do - Deal with them, don’t run from them. Stay focused. Face the storm, but don’t let it become your focal point. Things don’t always go as planned. Learn from it and look for the good.

Have you ever had your identity stolen?
As ForeverLawn, Inc. was beginning to grow, Brian received a call from one of their dealers. A potential customer had gone to ForeverLawn.com and was being directed to a competitor’s website. This shocked Dale & Brian as they had previously tried to obtain the domain, but a seed company had already purchased it but wasn’t using it.
Not only did this upset Dale & Brian, but the dealers also began to get frustrated. In the vast and intricate web of the internet, website domains are the virtual real estate on which our digital presence is built. They represent our brands, businesses, and online identities.
Unsure where to turn, they found an arbitration website and started a claim. When this attempt was deemed unsuccessful, they decided to hire an attorney. Over the next year and a half, the brothers' eyes were painfully opened to the fact that there are people in the world who do not value integrity.
The entire process of recovering the domain was frustrating and emotionally draining, impacting their personal lives and business. While they could have pushed to collect damages and made a lot of money, it ultimately came down to integrity. Even when facing adversity, and you are RIGHT - never let your integrity be compromised.
