In this episode, Rachel talks about how aiming for perfectionism as a therapist (or content creator, blogger etc) can interfere with our clinical work and risk missing subtle cues our clients are giving us, leading to ineffectiveness. This may apply to anyone trying to be "the perfect" XYZ.
In episode 26 Rachel talks about how her shame could’ve held her back from returning today!
In this episode, Rachel shares her in the moment emotions during her drive home after dropping her youngest off at college. We'll hear her tears, feel her pain and learn how she managed all the emotions she was experiencing in real time and didn't act on her urges to turn around and go stay with him or bring him home....both emotion mind thinking! If you're a parent and experiencing so many mixed emotions with being an empty nester....you're not alone! Go ahead and listen. Allow your tears to flow if that's what happens! Don't suppress your sadness, proudness, or anxiety because we all need pain in our lives, we just don't need to sit in them or act on them.
In this episode, Rachel uses nonjudgmental thinking and opposite action to "expose" her secret pleasure of watching reality show, Love Island USA season 6. She shares what skills she uses to bring joy into her life and accepting how some people might judge her for it. Rachel wants you to let go of your judgments about your slf and not care about the judgments others might have about you doing something that brings you joy and is aligned with your morals and values.
In this episode, Rachel discusses (and challenges the voice in her head that she hears doubting her ability to create a video podcast) how it's necessary to listen to the voices in your head, and don't let them control you. We all have our own inner dialogue, and it's important to recognize and understand it. The voices in our head are actually our own voices. People tend to listen to the voices that are negative, puts them down and judges them rather than listen to the voice that may lead them to doing what's effective. Remember that you are in control, and you have the power to choose which voice to listen to. Trust your intuition, be kind to yourself, and more importantly, embrace your perfectly imperfect self. Hope you enjoy!
In this episode, Rachel shares how she challenges herself when wanting to stop feeling some sort of pain (emotional or physical) and asks herself and her clients an important question that generally helps one evaluate their effort and is this the place they really want to quit at.
In Episode 20, Rachel returns after much time away from the mic and shares how since October 7, 2023, she's felt a lot of negative emotions, particularly sadness and anger and has also experienced many joyful and happy times at the same time. Rachel gets vulnerable by sharing how she experienced many joyful moments and celebrations while a war was going on in Israel and the emotions she felt. Rachel also talks about how it's ok for happiness and sadness to exist at the same time.
