Frederic J. Bertino, MD discusses a recent AJR article that investigates how to optimize the cores samples for in-gantry prostate MRI biopsy. It is suggested by this retrospective study that three cores from the dominant lesion achieves the "sweet spot" in balancing significant cancer detection and reducing anesthesia and procedure time. Study limitations and future directions are discussed.
