If you are one of those people that really struggle with either giving or receiving gifts, this episode is for you.
I don't believe in obligatory gift-giving. I believe in finding the alignment in the action. I don't believe in waste.
I believe that if we look at this time of year as an opportunity to show those that we care about in a way that is more aligned with both us and the people around us, we can let go of a lot of the "shoulds", the stress, the guilt, the exhaustion, that we associate with the season.
This episode comes at the process of gift-giving from the perspective of doing some personal mindset work in conjunction with understanding the concepts taught in Gary Chapman's trademarked 5- Love Language teachings.
It's a short one. I jumped up on my soapbox.
I hope it helps you find more joy for yourself instead of feeling the pressure of having to provide it this Holiday season.
We all know how to breathe.
I know that if you weren't breathing right now, you wouldn't be reading this.
I also know, that if you have experienced the power of breath-work; you can't wait to dive into this episode.
But if you never have, you are probably wondering what the big deal is.
My goal from the outset of creating this podcast was to help you meet yourself at the place of joy in your home, helping you reconnect to yourself in your personal space. And to help you help your daughter see herself in her magnificence by creating an environment where she can thrive.
I have learned from experience that connecting to that place of true joy and well-being goes beyond paint colors and buying things.
I am bringing to you a conversation that I had with Elisha Halpin, Priestess for Visionaries.
As we discuss, your breath is one of the few things on this planet that is both free and has the power to radically shift your emotional and physical health.
"You can only live at the level of your nervous system." -Elisha Halpin
What you will learn:
This episode is full of valuable nuggets that will help you understand why connecting to your breath is important and it is ultimately the key to more self-love, self-compassion, and a greater understanding of who YOU really are.

This episode came into being when I did something that was so out of character for me. I had to stop and take a deeper look at what caused it.
I flipped out over a fork that was put in the dishwasher in the wrong spot.
I rarely ever get mad.
And if I do, it's something big.
I knew that there was something WAY DEEPER BREWING.
And in that process of discovery, I unearthed 5 rock-solid lessons to living in more FLOW.
Each of these lessons can be easily incorporated into your day-to-day living in your home to make life feel easier.
They have been a gamechanger for me. I hope they have the same effect for you!

NO ONE LIKES BEING TOLD THEY ARE WRONG! And no one wants to be told that what they believe isn't actually true.
I am going out on a limb here to talk about exactly that.
Could you have been carrying around false beliefs that are affecting your home, your time, your finances, your love life?
Do you want to find out?
Beliefs are tricky things? They often keep us locked in a pattern that seems impossible to escape from.
But from the inside looking out, it seems as if our circumstances-the things or events that keep showing up in our lives; are to blame.
We grow so accustomed to telling ourselves the same stories over and over that we don't even hear them any more.
I'm going to let you in on a secret. Some of those untrue beliefs are keeping us from living the lives we long for. But they are cleverly disguised, hiding out in plan sight.
In this episode, I talk about:
My recent home renovation adventure has opened up some wounds that I thought had healed. And I want to use this opportunity as I work through them to help my clients and my listeners identify the things that might be locking you in the same patterns of frustration, anger, and discontent.

No matter how ordinary you feel, I can bet that you have something incredible hiding beneath that exterior. You just have to dig deep enough to connect to it. You may have even seen it as a burden or a flaw. As girls, we are told to be less bossy, less emotional, less dramatic. Our own power embarrasses us (or our parents) and we dial it back in order not to draw attention to ourselves.
Or we see someone who is so much better at what we are good at and getting to their level seems impossible. We are afraid to 'own our superpower" out of fear of being judged or not measuring up to someone else's standards.
How do you nurture what comes naturally so that it can become more than just "something you are good at?"

Do you wish you had more space to create the home or room design that you dream about?
I am a firm believer that obstacles are opportunities for creativity and expansion. It is a lot easier to see those opportunities from the outside looking in; not when you are in the midst of it yourself. Frustration and anxiety are great blinders.
In this episode, I walk you through the 6 steps that you can use to take full advantage of the space that you already have.
Because we are raised in an environment that constantly bombards us with the messages that we need MORE; something outside of us--something we are currently missing--will solve our problem.
Or our problem is US. We are not enough.
We believe that we need:
These are all the things we tell ourselves. But over and over I have found that we each have within us more than we realize when we just reframe our internal beliefs.

Do you ever hear something so brilliant that you just can't wait to share it with everyone you know?
I just emerged from a lovely week-long challenge hosted by the Money Consciousness Queen, Harriette Jackson. One of the exercises that she taught was in perfect alignment with the methods that I use to help capture the unique spark that needs to be celebrated in your space/your daughter's space; whichever one you are working on. I couldn't wait to share it with you.
In the 2.5 years that I have been in business for myself, I have worked with some extraordinary women. From the coaches who I have either hired or participated in their coaching containers to the women that I have met through these programs; I have been able to grow in ways that I would have never otherwise believed possible. I have made incredible friendships. I have learned how to create a profitable business in alignment with my authentic self.
I bring the strength and knowledge of all of these women to my clients through the design process.
Life coaching and business coaching have played an extraordinary role in my life.
When I made the decision to shift my business from 1:1 in-home interior design to a consultation-based business, I realized that what I do best is COACH. I am a "space coach."
I help others tap into their innate creativity and create rooms and homes that are filled with the energy and beauty of the people that live there. My particular passion is tapping into the magic of that inner little girl. The one who had big ideas and dreams and got left behind as she was taught to be practical and sensible. Helping women feel empowered by their spaces as they rediscover their light brings me more joy than I have ever known in any other "profession."
And helping mothers magnify that magic possessed by their own creative girls, so they can grow up trusting themselves and their decisions and don't have to go through the self-doubt and rediscovery process is my life's mission.
I hope that you enjoy this episode as much as I love creating rooms where girls of all ages can THRIVE!
Interior design is about living in a home that brings you joy and inspires you. Contrary to popular belief, you can live in a home that you love without "being good at design" or having a big bank account.
My guest is an expert at helping first-time home buyers, the most "house poor" of us all, create plans that move them forward on their visions for homes that they can be proud of. Jessica shares how her journey across the continents and the commonality between all the people that she was able to help lead her to see where she could shine her bright light into the world. By combining her experience in real estate with her training, innate ability, and passion for interior design; she could help brand new homeowners take decisive action on their new home no matter the size of their budget. She shares with you her secrets that anyone can use to begin to take action. She even has a gift to help you at the end of the episode!
Jessica Velazquez is an Interior Designer and the creator of "The 9 Limiting Beliefs Sabotaging Our Home-Dreams" and the host of My Very First Home, a weekly live show now in its third year. She leads the virtual movement #selfcarebeginsathome, which gathers experts in the self-wellness industry to provide transformative insight into how to create a home that takes care of us and sets us up for success.
We have a heartfelt chat about the struggles and joys of raising daughters with different "styles" than you and how to support them through their many phases of self-discovery.
We discuss husbands, ugly lamps, and giant broken chairs and how all of those things can, too, be sources of JOY.
She instructs us on how to use Pinterest as an actionable design tool rather than a rabbit hole of inaction and overwhelm which it can so easily become.
We talk about the biggest mistakes that new homeowners make when beginning to design their homes. And how those mistakes often lead to frustration, depleting their limited budget, and make them feel pigeon-holed into later choices.
You will learn what Jessica means by "Style follows Lifestyle" and how to use it as a guidepost to creating a home that you love no matter your budget!
