Bob opened the show up for calls both hours, no guest today: Nobody but us chickens!  And lots of calls from gardeners around the region who need help with their gardens and yards!

Our guest at 8:30 was Tom Perlette of the 67th Annual Pacific Orchid Exposition; this years' theme is "Orchids of the Enchanted Forest."  The show, in San Francisco at the Hall of Flowers, runs Friday Saturday and Sunday, February 22 thru 24; there will be a gala preview on the evening of February 21.   Bob and Tom talked all about orchids, covering varieties, care, and of course the opportunities to see them all around the state this time of year.   The Exposition is a function of the San Francisco Orchid Society.

Our hour starts with Edie Tanem's freshly harvested list of gardening related events and opportunities all over the Bay Area in the coming weeks -- including the Orchid shows!  Then it's right back to the phones; America's Happy Gardener Bob Tanem in holding court!

This mornings' show is all about the callers, as the rain abates and hints of spring are in the air; people are both catching up on late pruning or getting ready for their spring gardens -- either way, its lots of questions for America's Happy Gardener, Bob Tanem!

Our calls overflowed the top of the hour, so Edie's "Gardeners' Events of Interest Around the Bay" segment spilled over to the second segment.   Then it was right back to even more calls with Bob Tanem on KSFO!

Edie Tanem starts the hour off right on time with this weeks "Stuff to Do that's Good For Gardeners."  Then it's back to the phones, including a vigorous conversation about pruning fruit trees, spanning many calls (In case you're wondering, it's getting late but hurry and do it now!).

Our guest at 8:30 was Peter Geiger, Editor of The Farmers' Almanac. Having grown up with the publication, it's something he knows and clearly loves.  Bob tried to get out of him how they do their weather predictions, with partial success!

Our guest at 8:30 was Wayne Ferrell of the Santa Barbara Orchid Show, which is coming up this March 15 thru 17 at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara.  Then at 8:45 we had Stephen Howard of Davey Tree Service on with some timely tips on looking at your trees -- here in the dorman season -- for any signs of disease or danger, and when it is important to call a certified arborist.  For people who live near large trees, this can be an important safety concern.

We took calls all hour, and in between Bob discussed current and timely projects i the garden, among them pruning -- for those who still favor the old-fashioned winter pruning methods, as Bob still does!
