  • INANE :: episode 10
    I'm joined this week by my brother Chuck, who owns and runs Elevated Roast - an artisan coffee roasting company on Bainbridge Island just across the Puget Sound from Seattle. He buys and roasts direct trade single origin beans using a patented air roasting process which never burns beans, and he roasts to order to ensure freshness for his customers. We talk about why fresh is best, and how the average consumer have had the wool pulled over their eyes for so many years. There's no reason to be drinking stale coffee beans. And for God's sake, enough with the K-cups.

    This week we discuss my fallout of getting to a 10% body fat runners body, the news of Tiger's horrific traffic accident that may very well have ended his career, my experience at the new Amazon Fresh grocery store, cultural insensitivity, how Disney almost ruined hockey, Dylan Farrow's accusations against her father Woody Allen, and a few pieces of trivia that you can share the next time you're at a bar -- if those ever open again.

    A recent article from The Guardian prompts a discussion of religion, and how it has exploited people’s faith. Eric Ripert’s book 32 Yolks shines the light, once again, on the dangers of leaving little boys in the hands of dangerous strangers. A genius has invented a tool justtherecipe.app that strips all the annoying and useless content out of food blogs and gives you what you came there for - the recipe. March Madness is around the corner, and with it - plenty of torn up brackets. Amazon’s Alexa is wonderful. I just don’t know how to tell her how to shut up without hurting her feelings.

    Don, a long time friend and podcasting partner, joins me on the show this week. We drink a couple of special releases from Russian River Brewing and cover a myriad of topics: Camping, tent sex, fatherhood, homelessness, BBQ, Christopher Nolan’s film TENET, the Super Bowl, Anthony Bourdain, and give commentary on three viral videos that have been hanging around the internet for a while. It’s a longer show than usual, but a fun time.
