Incel

If any of you listened to the trailer I dropped a couple weeks ago, for We Met Online: Season 2, you might recognize the voice of today’s guest, Dr Roger McFillin. Or you might recognize it from his own show, The Radically Genuine Podcast, which ranks in the top 2% of downloads worldwide Dr. McFillin is a clinical psychologist and a writer, who devoted his 20 year career to providing care for adults and adolescents struggling with depression, eating disorders, PTSD, and suicidal behavior, and has also become deeply disillusioned with the mental health system in this country, particularly its connection the pharmaceutical industry, which has led to what he believes is the rampant overprescription of ineffective — and often dangerous — psychotropic drugs. Sit back and listen as we discuss incels, loneliness, the mental health system, some pretty dark secrets about pharmaceuticals, and even a bit about my own firsthand experiences of late! Today’s episode is with Vintologi, the founder of the eponymous "religion" and author of the Transmaxxing Manifesto. It was recorded in July of 2021 if certain references are out of date. It was certainly interesting to revisit after my recent episode with Tina, on The TRANSMaxxing Redux episode.

After a very brief TL;DR of this whole sordid business that's been ruining my life for the better part of a year, we dive into an interview with... another British criminologist... named Christopher Lowe (@ChrisLowe1994), who's working on his masters and focusing on incels. It's a lovely conversation that I'm sure you'll enjoy!

PS Stay tuned at the end for a little public service announcement regarding certain behaviors that are COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE and their consequences, starting now.

Here’s the second half of my conversation with Tonic! If you haven’t listened to the first part, please go back and check it out, for more of his life story and a history of incel spaces, to lead into some deeper and darker waters about Elliott Rodger, r/IncelTear, macabre poasting, and the experience of having one's words transformed into art. Today’s episode is a true return-to-form to very early days of the pod, as Tonic and I discuss the very early days of the community — long-gone places like love shy, r/incelswithouthate, r/askanincel and r/ inceltears. We also talk about the ER manifesto, the need for an affirmative incel identity, manipulative documentarians, the redemptive promise of the arts and connection, and his insights are absolutely brilliant. Part 1 of 2. "Change the World" by Eric Clapton. 1996. The Orchard Music.

34-year-old John (@evilcorgi69) is a writer from North Carolina. He’s an incel, and he’s had a difficult life, he’s a male survivor of childhood sexual abuse and he’s been grossly mistreated by the travesty that is the mental healthcare system in this country. As you’re about to hear, John is charming, articulate, insightful, and kind, so on one hand, I really enjoyed talking to him. But his account of his experiences was also utterly infuriating...

Tina (@LlamatoTina) is a 23 year old transwoman from Germany - a former associate of Vintologi, the Swedish author of the eponymous Transmaxxing Manifesto. She is a transmaxxer qua transmaxxer, who endorses transitioning for all sorts of reasons besides gender dysphoria, including "personal gain" and escaping inceldom. But her own story is much more complex. "Our Lips Are Sealed" by The Go-Go's. 1981. Courtesy of I.R.S. Records.
