In this weeks episode i'm chatting all things pants with co-founder of the worlds highest scoring B-Corp clothing brand, Y.O.U Underwear.
Y.O.U (Your Own Underwear) is an ethical business producing 100% organic cotton underwear for men and women where every purchase provides underwear to people in need (every purchase supports charities like Smalls for all and Future Dreams charity (who provide support to those experiencing poverty and people affected by breast cancer)
During our conversation Sarah explains what it actually means when you see that “B-Corp” sign on a company's product as well as why being informed about where your clothes come from, can help you make better buying choices that align with your ethical values.
We also explored the link between the cost of living crisis and period poverty- a poll done by Action Aid UK in May 2023 on over 1000 women reported the amount of women and girls (and anyone who menstruates) struggling to afford period products in the UK has risen from 12% in 2022 to 21% in just one year 🤯
Action Aid revealed that, of those affected, 41% kept sanitary pads or tampons in for longer, and 8% re-used disposable pads, which can be a dangerous method of period management 🩸🩸🩸🩸 As a country with the sixth largest economy in the world, we can really do better.
