This week, AJ and Brandon begin taking a look at the 7 Deadly Sins, starting with one that AJ is very familiar with, sloth. Sloth isn't always about not doing things, but gets more to the question of not doing what needs to be done.
After so much time talking about getting ready for Easter, you know AJ and Brandon had to take some time to welcome Easter and discuss how to live it out. This week, we talk about the idea of dying to sin and living in Christ and the importance of giving ourselves the grace to continue improving instead of demanding perfection immediately.
On a special Holy Thursday episode, AJ and Brandon are joined by Gustavo, Ivan, and Walther from the Barbatus Catholic Podcast to discuss the Triduum celebrations and how pass the faith on to the next generation. Make sure to check them out on social media and on their own pod!
Hard to believe though it is, Easter is two Sundays from today! To try and keep it from sneaking up on us, we talked our way through how this Lent has been treating us. How have our attempts at prayer, fasting, and almsgiving been going? A little hit and miss, honestly. How about yours?
This week, AJ and Brandon have a (slightly late) celebration of 100 episodes of podcasting before diving in on the proud Christian tradition of baptizing pagan symbols, using the Easter Bunny as a prime example. Why have Christians, going all the way back to St. Paul, been so willing to use non-Christian symbols?
On this week's episode, AJ and Brandon complete their look at the Lenten practices. Having already looked at prayer and fasting, this week they look at almsgiving. When we recognize that everything we have is the generous gift of God, we'll have a natural desire to share those blessings with others. How do we incorporate that with our other Lenten practices? How do we develop that gratitude and desire to give in the the children in our lives? Listen and let us know what you think!
AJ and Brandon keep walking that Lenten journey! After looking at prayer last week, this week it's time to take a look at fasting. Fasting is more than just giving up candy, it's about getting the obstacles out of the way from us and God.
This week, AJ and Brandon thought they were going to be discussing prayer, but like good conversation often does, they were pulled in a different direction and talked about the importance of community and the difficult question of whether our churches have failed us(or if we've failed them) during this pandemic.
AJ and Brandon needed a break, so they decided to just give in to the Nerd Side and bring out a bracket ranking the heroes and villains from the Star Wars movies. Taking it easy, naturally, meant we ran long, because of course it did, but we have no doubt that a lot of you will be willing and able to tell us just how horribly wrong we are!
AJ and Brandon get reflective about who they are, who the podcast is for, and why it matters. Our principles will define our culture, and if we don't want to be passengers, just watching the direction the world goes, then we all need to get into the conversation. We need the every-man to join the conversation.
