The world got a frustrating reminder today of just how dependent we are on computers. A glitch that went global during a software update from one of the world’s largest cyber security companies has shutdown computers systems affecting everything from hospitals and banks to airlines and tv networks. Jim Moret reports on the worldwide chaos. And Donald Trump is now the official nominee of the Republican party for president, giving a record long 92 minute acceptance speech. The party faithful gave him a rousing ovation, but how engaged is his wife Melania? The former First Lady did appear, but said nothing, bucking a 40 year tradition of wives introducing their husbands. Plus, President Biden is isolating in Delaware as he battles Covid, which is both keeping him off the campaign trail, and from meeting with key Democrats to keep them from abandoning his candidacy. While the number of those saying Biden should step down grows, his campaign is saying he's not going anywhere. And contestants in the Miss America program have a platform or cause they champion, and for the woman who just won Miss Kansas, her cause is combating domestic abuse. She stunned everyone in the audience when she announced on stage, that her abuser was right there in the auditorium!
