Today we broadcast from London, just outside Westminster Abby where just a few hours ago funeral services were held for Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest living and longest reigning monarch. Today marks the end of ten days of mourning…the final farewell to the only monarch most people have ever known. And the first state funeral in Britain since Winston Churchill’s in 1965 was a security challenge…the biggest in London's history. There was a massive police presence as well as military personnel involved in keeping the crowd safe. As Les Trent reports they weren't taking any chances. Plus, before her death, the queen had a chat with an archbishop who had been planning today's funeral with her for 17 years. He says the queen had one request – “don't make my service long and boring”…mission accomplished.
And it wasn't made official until last night that Prince William and Kate's two oldest children Prince George and Princess Charlotte would be attending. This was their first big outing on the world stage…and they were the picture of poise.
