Chris Ballard toughest offseason is about to get serious.  He could try to convince Jim Irsay to keep Carson Wentz and risk his job - or he could release or trade Wentz, lose, and get fired.  Finding an upgrade to give the Colts a better chance to win without mortgaging the future looks like a tough putt!  

Indiana needs to win tonight to keep NCAA Tourney hopes alive.  They need to do one of two things to beat Maryland - get smart or shoot it well.  Suddenly getting smart seems unlikely.  

Butler is so close, but lost again last night.  

Notre Dame is a game back in the ACC, but unranked?

Jim Irsay is impatient for winning and to lose Carson Wentz as an employee.  That impatience will make GM Chris Ballard job of getting reasonable value back very difficult.  Billionaires - what are you going to do with them?  

Indiana hosts Maryland tomorrow night, and if the Hoosiers lose, another trip to the NIT might be in their future!  Trayce Jackson-Davis says he will tell Xavier Johnson to keep shooting.  In this video, I tell Trayce why that is the worst thing imaginable to tell Xavier.  

IU recruit CJ Gunn got tossed for Lawrence North's game last night, so he will miss the opening game of the sectional next Tuesday.  Hope he got bad decisions out of his system before getting to Bloomington!

Carson Wentz will be remembered as a one-year failed experiment - unless it becomes a two-year failed experiment.  The reasons to replace him are obvious - to the eye AND analytics.  The reason to keep Wentz would be a failure to upgrade, which would be owned by Chris Ballard.  

Indiana Basketball is in trouble as fans lose passion due to relentless mediocrity.  The cure is a cultural re-plate.  Running this roster back will bring nothing but further misery.

Chris Ballard needs to acquire a series of elite level assets - and convert two current players from mediocre to elite.  Then the Colts will be a championship contender.  

Indiana needs to come together as a team to win next three, and then Mike Woodson needs to define the culture of Indiana Basketball once and for all and recruit to it.    

Tom Izzo says ending the handshake line after game would be "a farce."  Maybe it should change instead of continue to cause problems.

Reich can get the Colts from 9-8 to 12-5 and the Super Bowl with the right roster!  That roster is more than a few pieces from being championship ready!  

Indiana needs to re-plate its basketball culture!  Coaches change, but the results don't.  Mike Woodson needs to fix that right away, and the rebuild starts with the point guard position.

Indiana came back from down 11 to take a four-point lead.  Ohio State forced OT, and won by 11.  EJ Liddell was a beast and Malaki Branham looked like the Big 10 Freshman of the Year.  

Fans will clamor for change, but I am riding with Woodson.  I can't hope another coach gets fired to give me hope.  But he needs to correct the structural flaws that continue to cripple this always proud but recently unsuccessful basketball program.

Carson Wentz remains tahe favorite in a crowded field because he already has the job, but there is a new longshot with a long pedigree of excellence shooting up the tote board!  

I love the Hoosiers as a road dog tonight in Columbus!  Ohio State is a great matchup for Indiana, and I'll bet you Chris Holtmann doesn't try to slap around Dane Fife in the postgame handshake line!

Andrew Luck is living a very nice life, so why do fans see him as a cautionary tale for Joe Burrow?  Burrow should hope to emulate Luck, not escape his fate!  

Indiana can get there with Woodson.  The first year will not define his era.  He needs to build his culture - and recruit some shooters.  

Pacers grades at the All Star Break - for the present - a solid F!  For the future - an A+!  Kevin Pritchard has done a lot of heavy lifting to get amass assets that can win big in two years!
