The ladies are back for another episode of the insideLINES podcast! 

First up, Tia had the longest and most inconvenient weekend ever after experiencing car trouble Friday. Meanwhile, Atoya shares details from her jam- packed weekend! She hosted a Sip & Scents brunch with School Scents Candle and Home Company where guests were able to create their own scents & candles. 

Next, in Hot Takes, the ladies discuss the newly released sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The movie had an opening weekend global box office of over $331M. Tia & Atoya both celebrated the opening by renting out theaters for a few hundred kids and shared their thoughts on the film (without giving any spoilers!). Tia also spoke on the Variety article Rescuing Black Panther where Director Ryan Coogler shared how difficult it was to be in a nonstop  state of grief during the media tour due to constantly reliving Chadwhck Boseman’s sudden death. (6:30)

Finally, the ladies are joined by Kayla Adeniji, Influencer  and Wife of Cincinnati Bengal Hakeem Adeniji. (13:49) The ladies discuss:

Atoya and Tia are back for episode twelve of Season 4! 

First, Atoya dishes about all the great costumes from the Burleson annual adults only Halloween party! She dressed as Beyonce from the Formation video while Nate went as a beekeeper. Meanwhile, Tia celebrated the end of youth fall sports!

According to a Forbes article titled,  Women Continuing To Face Alarmingly High Levels Of Burnout, Stress In The “New Normal” Of Work, fifty-three percent of women surveyed say their stress levels are higher than they were a year ago, and almost half feel burned out. The ladies  are back for another episode of the insideLINES podcast! 

Tia kicks off the show with highlights from her weekend! With a wildfire burning in the greater Seattle area, she had a chill weekend after her kids’ outdoor activities were canceled due to poor air quality. However, she was able to attend a basketball court dedication at the Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic in honor of the legendary NBA Hall of Famer, Coach Lenny Wilkins. Meanwhile, Atoya had a whirlwind of a week after a 24 hour trip to Las Vegas to see Grammy award winning artist Usher Residency. Still, she made it back home to see all three of the Burleson kids have an amazing weekend in sports! 

Next in Hot Takes, Tia and Atoya we are discussing former NBA Player and current sports analyst Jalen Rose and some intense family drama. His sister Tamara posted a video on social media blasting Jalen for trying to sell their mother’s house while she still lived in it. Jalen  purchased the home for their mother, however, their mother passed away in February 2021. Tamara stated that she has lived there for almost 4 years all while taking care of their mother. Now in the video, Jalen completely ignores his sister while she explains that she is grieving and trying to recover from various ailments. The ladies discuss if Jalen is wrong for trying to kick his sister out? 

Finally, the ladies welcome Founder of The Lionesque Group and Principal at MG2 Studio, Melissa Gonzalez! Melissa, who hosts Market Scale’s Retail Refined podcast, was named to the 2022 Women’s Wear Daily 25 Most Inspirational Women list! She chats with the ladies about she got started designing innovative consumer spaces, her thoughts on the future of retail spaces, and  how she got into skydiving! Melissa also shares the most important skill set she feels young leaders need, how she’s guiding her clients through the challenging economy, and more!

Hosts Atoya Burleson and Tia Avril are back for another episode of the insideLINES podcast!

She also shared that one of her sons had an amazing weekend in high school football after switching to defense for the first time! The ladies also discussed becoming desensitized to traumatic events after Tia shared a frightening incident that unfolded during a trip to the mall. 

Then it’s on to Hot Takes where Atoya and Tia are discussing a whole lot of divorce. First, Tia Mowry and her husband Cory Hardict announced last week that they have decided to go their separate ways. The two have been married 14 years and share 2 children together. Award winning artist Miguel and Nazanin Mandi have also decided to call it quits after 17 years together (married 3 years). Nazanin actually filed for divorce in 2021, but the pair reconciled in early 2022. And lastly, it appears Tom Brady and model Giselle might be headed towards divorce after it was reported that the 2 have hired divorce lawyers. The pair have been married for 13 years and share 2 children together. Tia and Atoya share their thoughts on the heartbreaking news surrounding these marriages. 

Lastly, the ladies throw it back to their sit down during this past Super Bowl with the Owner and Founder of Slutty Vegan ATL, Pinky Cole! She  recently expanded into the NY area with a restaurant in Brooklyn and announced one in Harlem coming soon. The ladies chat about the origins of Slutty Vegan, the importance of inspiring the next generation, and her many philanthropic initiatives through her foundation, the Pinky Cole Foundation. They also chat about Pinky’s upcoming book, Eat Plants, B*tch, and reality shows!

Hosts Atoya Burleson and Tia Avril are back for another episode of the insideLINES podcast! 

The ladies kick off the episode with highlights from their week! Atoya had a pretty chill weekend after enjoying her boys’ high school football game. Tia spent the weekend in Las Vegas after diverting a planned trip to Tampa due to Hurricane Ian!

Then it’s on to Hot Takes where Atoya and Tia are discussing Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Tua, a 3rd year QB, sustained a blow to the head during a week 3 game versus the Bills. He stood up following the hit shaking his head and then staggered a handful of steps before falling to his knees. He missed the rest of the game citing a back injury. He then went on to play four days later in the Thursday night game versus the Bengals. In the 2nd quarter of the game, Tua was sacked, and when he hit the ground, he stayed there in what appeared to be unconsciousness with his fingers rigid. Of course he was diagnosed with a concussion, raising concerns on if he even should have been playing in the first place. Tia and Atoya share their thoughts on the entire situation. 

Finally, the ladies welcome Jovi Te’o! Jovi, aspiring nurse practitioner and wife of NFL free agent Manti Te’o, chats with Atoya and Tia about how she became a fitness enthusiast and coach and why she’s now pursuing her nursing degree. She also shares her thoughts on Manti’s new Netflix documentary, Untold: The Girlfriend Who Didn’t Exist and if her family has even forgiven the perpetrator who catfished Manti. Listen in as the ladies discuss the Te’os current transition out of football, welcoming baby #2, and so much more!

After a week full of relationship woes, the ladies chat about the recent outing of Adam Levine, lead singer of the group Maroon 5 and married to a Victoria Secret model. A TikToker went viral after she came forward when Adam reached out to her asking if he could name his child after her following their year long relationship. She shared screenshots with some friends, and one of the friends started shopping the images around to different tabloids/blogs. After her video, several other women came forward exposing Adam for reaching out to them as well although he never made physical contact with the women. Atoya and Tia share their thoughts on if they think it’s okay for women to put men’s indiscretions on social media while further embarrassing the cheater’s spouse as well as what actions they consider “cheating” within their relationship. 

Finally, the ladies welcome Erika Oldham, founder of New Jersey based bakery Chic Sugars! Erika, who has made cakes for celebrities such as Jay-Z and Missy Elliot, chats with Tia and Atoya about her unconventional start in the custom cake business, turning her side hustle into THE hustle, and how she how she handles the guilt associated with having to sometimes prioritize her business over family obligations. She also shares advice she would give new chefs looking to get into this industry, and much more!

Then, it’s on to “Hot Takes” where Tia and Atoya are discussing former NFL Quarterback and Hall of Famer Brett Farve. Brett, who played 20 seasons in the NFL spending most of his time with the Green Bay Packers, is being accused of misusing Mississippi State welfare funds alongside former MS Governor Phil Bryant, and non profit leader Nancy New in order to finance an $8M volleyball stadium. Nancy has since pleaded guilty to multiple state charges, and during the hearing, text messages were revealed in court showing how Brett, Phil, and Nancy New coordinated on procuring Temporary Assistance For Needy Families funds to finance the volleyball stadium at the University of Southern Mississippi. Brett also received $1.1M in funds for motivational speeches he never delivered. The ladies share their thoughts on if Brett was wrong for the way in which he received the funding and if he should pay it back. 

Last, the ladies are in the hot seat this week as Atoya and Tia interview each other! Atoya shares what she feels most misunderstood about herself and chats about when she felt most satisfied in life. Tia discusses what she enjoyed most about the NFL and one of her biggest revelations about marriage.

Victor, a Haitian-American designer, held his show at the acclaimed Rockefeller Center with a roller skating theme followed by a fun-filled after party sponsored by Shop with Google. 

Then, it’s on to “Hot Takes!” This week, Tia and Atoya are discussing the drama between Grammy award winning artist Neyo and his wife Crystal Renay. The two have been married for 8 years and share three kids together. Crystal and Neyo filed for divorce at the top of covid, but the two reconciled and even recently held a vow renewal in Las Vegas. However, Crystal announced last month via Instagram that she was filing for divorce, accusing him of carrying on multiple affairs, and conceiving a child, Neyo filed a motion to prevent Crystal from speaking about the divorce stating that he has lost over $400K in deals because of it. Atoya and Tia share their thoughts on if they think Crystal should be able to speak about their relationship and divorce.

Finally, the ladies welcome the Global Consumer Marketing Director for Commerce at Google, Stephanie Horton! Stephanie is a 25-year veteran of the luxury fashion and marketing communities working with both domestic and international brands. She chats with Tia and Atoya about how she got her start in marketing and fashion, navigating through multiple executive roles while being one of very few people of color, and the importance of accepting accountability. Stephanie also discusses Fashion Tech Connects, a foundation she co-founded to increase the number of women of color in fashion and tech positions, and much more!
