  • IMR 1288-2 American Country Awards

    The third annual American Country Awards program was a huge hit for the FOX network last month.  The two-hour show from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas saw Luke Bryan take home nine awards.  Performances were packed into the show from co-hosts Trace Adkins and Kristin Chenoweth, plus tons of other hot country acts.  Kelly Lynn headed out to the red carpet to chat with the artists before the big night.

    We kick off another Inside Music Row with the mention of Alan Jackson - Alan is inviting fans into his home through a book called "Seasons of Sweetbriar."  The book features photos of when Alan and his family lived in the Sweetbriar estate - all proceeds will go to the Colon Cancer Alliance's Blue Note Fund to help fight cancer patients struggling to meet their financial obligations.  We also hear from Larry Black as he became an Ambassador of Good Will for the State of Tennessee in the middle of a taping of his successful "Larry's Country Diner."  Next, we mention the Grammy Nominees album - this is the 19th installment of the best-selling series, and a portion of the proceeds will help support the Grammy Foundation and the MusiCares Foundation.  The album is available late January.  Finally, we go Inside the Song with Irishman Pete Kennedy to hear about a very personal track he wrote called "I Am The One."

    Bobby Bare is a music legend who has recorded for over fifty years now.  Bobby recently cut his first new material in seven years "Darker Than Light," whcih he premiered at the Loveless Cafe for Music City Roots.  This new album was cut at the famous RCA Studio B, where he recorded his first album in 1962.  Now on the newly launched Plowboy Records, Bobby is excited about his musical future.

    Thomas Rhett is fairly new to the music charts, even though he's been in country music all his life through his father Rhett Akins.  Now Thomas is making a name for himself on the Valory Music Company label.  His debut album will hit stores late this Spring, but we had a chance to check in with him behind-the-scenes on the set of his latest music video.

    The Grammy Awards recognize the best in music across many genres.  For the last five years, they've held a large party to kick off the Grammy season, helping to build excitement for the prestigious event.  This year, the Grammy Nominations were held right here in Nashville, and we had a chance to check in with a few of the artists involved at the rehearsal.

    We kick off another Inside Music Row with the mention of Carrie Underwood as she continues her "Blown Away" tour in the U.K. and Ireland in March.  Up next is Marty Raybon, The Roys, and Carrie Hassler as they have all joined The Pink Arrow Project - an organization dedicated to raising awareness and outreach to help fight cancer.  Also in the news is Lisa Matassa - Lisa stopped by to entertain the staff at Music Row Magazine with a performance of three songs from her new EP "Somebody's Baby."  Sony/ATV Music Publishing is mentioned next as they are helping to spotlight rising singer-songwriters through their new "Guitars and Bars" tour which kicks off this month in Cincinnati.  Finally, we go Inside The Song with Chuck Wicks to hear about a hit he co-wrote for Jason Aldean called "I Don't Do Lonely Well."
