Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of Proverbs 16:16 "How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!"
"To be wise is a gift from God himself. Over and over again we can look to scripture to help us find wisdom for any and every situation. I read a quote that says - Easy Is The Path of Wisdom for Those Not Blinded By Ego - and it got me thinking of how many times we put our ego’s before our faith.
We want to be in control. We want to take charge. We want to have all of the answers, but we would be fools to believe that we can hold all that power and knowledge without the help of Jesus.
I understand the motive behind Ego. It’s almost like a shield of protection. You rather be in control so that you don’t get hurt, but the reality of the situation is that God is asking to be our protector. He is asking us to do life His way. If we humble ourselves we can reap the beautiful benefits of allowing God to be the one in control.
When we surrender our needs, we gain a deeper appreciation and understanding for the things around us.
Like this verse says, insight is far greater than silver. It sounds counterproductive, we have to relinquish our need for control, our need for information, and in return we gain insight. It’s because we associate information with insight, when that is all wrong. The insight God is promising us isn’t the information we seek, but rather than peace in knowing we’re safe in His kingdom.
