More young people struggle with simple calculations, and a recent survey for Allianz said even adding up basic change was an issue many struggle with. Allianz Commercial detected £70 million worth of insurance fraud in 2022, an increase of over ten percent on the previous year. This is similar to other fraud upticks, when with each economic downturn, insurers usually see fraud escalate. Many small businesses have struggled to recruit people in the last year, partly because fewer people are in employment than before the pandemic. It looks like one of the biggest risks for small businesses is that they will find it difficult to grow if they can’t find enough staff.
