  • What If My MUST Isn’t a Money-Maker?
“What if doing what I love doesn’t pay?”
    Elle Luna

    Consider these questions:

What would you love to learn more about simply because it lights you up?
How attached are you to making money with your MUST?
What is the smallest amount of money you need to make in a job to support your current lifestyle?
What will your Inner Critic say to you about the connection between your MUST and making money?
Are you pressuring your MUST to be a money-maker?
Can you make money with your MUST?

  • Your Inner Critic Will Get Triggered by Your Must
When you commit to identifying and embracing your MUST, expect your Inner Critic to get triggered.

Think of your Inner Critic as a “best friend with shitty communication skills” who desperately wants to keep you “safe” by ensuring that you remain loved, attached, or approved of by the people in your life.

    Consider these questions:

Who will get triggered by your MUST?
What will your Inner Critic say to you about your MUST?
How does your Inner Critic define “failure”?
How does your Inner Critic define “success”?

  • The Importance of Gifts and Talents
“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

    Mark Twain

I think two of the most important days in your life are the day you DECIDE to be reborn as your authentic self and the day you stop ignoring your why.

Your authentic self has GIFTS and TALENTS.

Your GIFTS are what come easily to you, and what others turn to you for help with.

Your TALENTS are your passions, interests, and anything that lights you up.

    Consider these questions:

    What comes easily for you?
    How do you help others?
    What lights you up?
How can you use your GIFTS and TALENTS to be of service to others?
How can you use your GIFTS and TALENTS to find your own version of passion and bliss?

  • Where Should’s Come From
Cheers to you, my brilliant friend!

Welcome to the Intelligent Intoxication podcast - where I’ll get you smashed on success without the buzzkill of burnout.

The Crossroads of Should and Must: Find and Follow Your Passion by author and artist, Elle Luna.

Here is my understanding of how should’s are created (based on what I’ve learned from my delightly wise friend and colleague, Sally Hardie (@sallyhardie):

When we are young, we have two distinct needs:

To be loved by and attached to our care-givers in order to be safe
    To be authentic:
to be accepted and valued for our unique gifts and talents
to trust our bodies to tell us what is okay/not okay

When these two needs are in conflict, we will always default to achieving safety through staying loved and attached.

In order to be loved by and attached to our caregivers, we are conditioned to believe that we SHOULD be, do, and act in a certain, acceptable way.

I invite you to fill in the following prompts:

    “I should never…. “
    “I should always… “
    “I should know better than to… “
    “I should not… “

  • Shoulds, Musts, and Your Authentic Self
Cheers to you, my brilliant friend!

Welcome to the Intelligent Intoxication podcast - where I’ll get you smashed on success without the buzzkill of burnout.

In her brilliant book The Crossroads of Should and Must: Find and Follow Your Passion, author and artist Elle Luna explains the difference between a SHOULD and a MUST:

“Should is how other people want us to live our lives… Must is who we are, what we believe, and what we do when we are alone with our truest, most authentic self… Must is when we stop conforming to other people’s ideals and start connecting to our own - and this allows us to cultivate our full potential as individuals.”

    Some questions for your consideration:

Who are you telling yourself that you SHOULD be? SHOULD want? SHOULD do?
Who are you when you’re alone with your most authentic self?
What do you believe? What do you do? What do you value?

“A CAREER is a system of advancements and promotions over time where rewards are used to optimize behavior.”
“A CALLING is something we feel compelled to do regardless of fame or fortune; the work is the reward.”

    Some questions for your consideration:

When do you work for pay?
