John Januskey, Logan Respess and Dean Brundage were our guests and we talked about a little bit of everything. Logan wowed us with his indepth yeast knowledge. John talked about the brewery’s roots and gave a rundown of all their delicious beers as well as a beer and food pairing combo with Go Go Apple Squeeze furnished by Cassie.. Dean gave us philosophical as well as financial advice on opening a business and gave a few book recommendations as well as insight into the brewery’s musical guest. Episode 73 of InterBrews was recorded at Texian Brewing Company in Richmond, TX. Josh and Caleb are proud to debut 2 new beers to the Texian lineup. First is Donkey Lady, an American Sour aged on Granny Smith apples and spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg. This beer took host Josh Stewart back to summer days in the kitchens watching his grandmother make fried apple pies. The second beer is The Liberty, a 100% Brett IPA. This is a beer for deep contemplation and sell examination with huge ripe fruit (peach, apricot and citrus) flavors. Episode 72 was recorded at Texas Beer Refinery with Ryan Rhodes, Steve Flynn and John Hearn. We got the low down on their founding and their delicious beers in cluding the Mexican IPA and the Bayou City Brown. We found out that John went to The University of Arkansas (WPS) and that it IS possible to brew a beer with crawfish. Episode 71 of the podcast was recorded at Whole Foods Market Brewing Company. Our guest was none other than Scott Metzger, founder of Freetail Brewpub and Brewery in San Antonio, TX. Scott was in Houston for a Freetail blitz of Houston as they are now distributing to the Bayou City. We talked about Scott’s background, his love for San Antonio and puffy tacos as well as his envolvement in the Texas political process and his role with the Texas Craft Brewers Guild. We also talk trash about respective city’s basketball teams and much much more. Also a huge thanks to Dave Ohmer and Whole Foods Brewing Company for allowing us to record the podcast at their place. Episode 69 was recorded on St Patty’s Day at Big Thicket Distillery. Josh along with TD Mike and Social Schomburg traveled out to Conroe, TX to visit Dan Bass and get into the “spirit” of distilling. Dan explained the process of making the spirits the Big Thicket way and showed how the process differs and relates to beer. We also tried their award wining Dog Trot Vodka, their Boomtown Whiskey and Bourbon. It was a super awesome time that broadened our horizons and cleared our sinuses. This is InterBrews

Alan Ward, Brewmaster at Brigadoon Brewing Company and Buffalo Bayou’s Carl Norberg and Rassul Zarinfar sat down to discuss The 2015 Houston Firkin Fest, a Cock Ale Challenge, why Rassul is not even close to being at his Wit’s end, what Carl does as a weekend hobby and much much more.

Episode 67 was recorded in Brenham, TX at Brazos Valley Brewing Company. Jeremy Bass, Josh Bass and Josh “Ponch” Estrada were our guests on the podcast. On cold and blustery day we warmed our souls with Big Spoon Tres Leches Stout and 7 Spanish Angels Coffee Brown Ale.
