That's right, get a YOB.  I have worked for many years helping people get very good not at their job but at something that was very important.  Cause they did indeed have a YOB... And can I tell you a vital lesson for life that I learned watching a guy at a high school assembly program many years ago put on the show in which all he did was take balloons and make them into fantastic figures, and characters that we're just amazing.  But since I was backstage watching the show I was also smart enough to figure out that this is kind of a strange program to have for a high school assembly. 

After all the fun he stopped and got very serious and shared a significant truth which was vital and something that we all needed to hear. And indeed that was over a half-century ago and I still remember it, I remember it well.  And that man's advice certainly lives on because I'm telling it to you now and the others all over the world.   He would be amazed.

Yes for some very strange reasons I know exactly where I was on the night of August 16, 1977.  And I think you'll find the stories entertaining and maybe fascinating. And I will tell you how I gave away one of the probably very expensive souvenirs of The King... And then even though I have two college degrees I'm going to go on a bit of a rant about the obnoxious cost and perhaps the decreasing value of a college and university education today.   College enrollment is going down and that's a good thing.

So from a long time person perspective let me suggest some things that might be much more valuable for most people than ever going to college.  And then tell me how you feel about my stories and a little bit of my rant.  If you're good enough and kind enough I'll even put you on the radio.

Well we just take 10 minutes on this Tuesday to introduce you to an idea that you might want to take seriously. It's based on a bad dream, indeed almost a nightmare.  So let me tell you the story of this bad dream nightmare and then you decide if it has any meaning for you at this stage in your life.  And always remember how you want to be remembered and then do something every day to help you end up that way.  Just let that sit on your head for a while.

 Well how was Monday? Do you have any special ways to try and make Monday a good start to the week.  Just thought I would ask and maybe you could share that with me.  But today I'm gonna talk about something that I know affects you because it affects everybody. PAIN ...

And no I do not have a $19.95 special that will take away your pain. I don't think anybody really does despite what they might say.  But I've learned some things and my subject will be just what the title is all about. Guess what, your pain is not due to a Tylenol deficiency. It's due to something else. And is it true that if pain were water, the world would drown.  So they are not original ideas with me but I learned them from some wise  people... And our conversation this Monday evening just might be helpful to you. It's only 15 minutes so let's see.

Well it's Sunday night and are you ready are you prepared to meet the marketplace on Monday with courage, conviction, power, purpose, and strong self direction!  Well let's face it, most of us aren't even close. And I'm not claiming that I am but I'm trying to get close to the spirit force power that will help me meet the challenges as well as the opportunities of a very busy week in which I have to be successful. In a number of things.  I have responsibilities because there are people who are counting on me and there are promises that I made that I have to keep.  So that's why I did tonight as much for my benefit as for yours and it's only 15 minutes but I think it will help you rest better tonight, maybe even give you something to think about and sing about.

The wonderful baseball fantasy epic based on some truth centered on the sad story of Shoeless Joe Jackson who is banned from baseball because of a rumored betting scandal.  And around a young man called moonlight Graham made it to the big leagues but was only able to play for 1/2 inning. 

Then his career was over.  But that's not the end of the story, and no she didn't play a part in the film, but my dear wife Karen was very definitely a part of the field of dreams story, and I'd love to share her story with you.  And then perhaps turn into a bit of a business performance coach and ask you, if you build it will they come.  Just some thoughts and questions for a weekend reflection.

Today I'm going to tell you about a story that my children love to hear. It was about Stanley Stupid and his family.  I think you will enjoy hearing the story, and then that wonderful little prayer, Please God don't let me die stupid...

People say they believe what goes around comes around, what you sow is what you reap, and karma will get you.   But most people who say that are not telling the truth instead they do every day Stupid People Tricks ... So let me tell you about somebody who did one to me and I can almost guarantee what happened to him. He thinks he stiffed me but what he did was Stiff Himself. So I think you'll enjoy the story with a profound challenge for you and for me, the time has come the time is now to stop doing stupid people tricks.

Yes indeed, it's about the birds and the snakes.  You've probably never heard this before and so please pay close attention.  Jesus talked a lot about how to live well and be successful in your life and business, and one of the most powerful is a simple comment about birds and snakes.  So it's time for you to hear the story about how important it is to know the life, business, and spiritual principles that go along with a story about birds and snakes.  After you learn this lesson, be smart and teach it to three people in your organization.

 For our anniversary day Karen I went and saw the movie, Elvis this past weekend.  Boy did that bring back memories and thoughts about tmes past in our growing up.  But there were things in it that got me going in all kinds of directions and let me share some with you. 

And the idea of eternity came up and so I went in that direction to the classic film From Here to Eternity, and then I went to a sad story about a young man, a brilliant young man, who had so much going for him, and had the line which I remembered and touched my heart and spirit.  Does it have eternity written on it or not.  And that is a wonderful question so let me talk about that, but unfortunately the story has a sad ending and maybe in some way I can redeem it.

Here we go, time for a Sunday night meeting where you plan for what will be a challenging week ahead of you.  And this is a briefing and then a epilogue of our two week adventure in seeking to update the classic work by Dale Carnegie.  We're trying to see how we can in the modern media and in the modern challenges of today truly make good friends and make our mark in the marketplace that we've chosen and perhaps God has chosen. 

Remember everybody has a marketplace where they have to make a contribution in order to receive any kind of compensation. And everybody has an audience the cannon will be influenced by.  So do your work well.  And that's why I challenge you tonight to think this week about bringing three people into your life.
