Now we know, we may be going through a difficult time as inflation combined with recession combined with and increase in crime and incivility.  Couldn't be there an update of a famous book written over 80 years ago in very difficult times that could be helpful to us. Please join me as we do an update of How to Win friends and Influence People updated and ready for you today. And today we begin with Lesson 1 which is vital.

Only 3% of the population may be equipped to handle the difficult times that are coming. So I'm going to describe for you what a 3% person is like, and working together perhaps we can become one of those people, who may in difficult times be able to achieve great things.  Let's see if that can be me and thee.

 Is that what we want?  Well maybe so, but those three words mean a lot of different things and they certainly are different for me.  In terms of our contemporary culture I've already missed what many people would describe as successful influential and happy.  But I have different goals and aspirations now and with that in mind I believe the definition and question is still a good one. 

However I'm not sure that there are too many people in contemporary media culture today who have any idea how to do that. We lack moral, spiritual, cultural and political leadership today.  How many sectors of our society are hopelessly corrupt and cannot be trusted.

However I believe that at any stage of life we all can make some profound turn arounds and make our mark that makes a difference and serves others.  So please join me for some Monday night musings that might be helpful as you live out the next few days of this week.

 On Friday we talked about the great old song called Leaning on the Everlasting Arms which of all things was one of the great songs that came out of the movie True Grit put together by the Coen Brothers.  Today let's have a lighter touch too as we get ready for a challenging week ahead.  I want to play the song, Lean on Me, but also use a little theater of the mind to see a painting by a friend of mine, Diana Madaras from Tucson Arizona who is now filling the world with beautiful paintings of the great Southwest and of the cowboy way of life. Let me tell you the truth perhaps a secret too many.  A  large majority of the people speaking on the media and pontificating about all the current events and happenings don't know what they are talking about.  And I even confess sometimes I'm sure I am guilty of that too along with you. 

That's why I'm learning to say more and more often two things, "I don't know"  and "Honey I was wrong."  So let me tell you a little story about 1936.  And then I finish with a song that stirs my mind, moves my spirit, and touches my heart. Have a good weekend,

I cannot claim that wonderful unique expression, intoxicating vanity, and it has even taught me a new prayer, "Dear God save me from intoxicating vanity.?  But we hear and see that all the time today.  I challenge the idea of a climate crisis or even a climate emergency.

And with your permission may I suggest something about how we can get up in the morning and do something that will actually help us and perhaps even help the world. 

Because it is true that in a world full of vanit, stupidity, and fear mongering we can truly be at peace with the world.  But there's also something you have to forgive.  Please join me for about 15 minutes as I talk about some things that really matter and I hope they'll be helpful to you.   Blessings on you and don't be afraid.

 You have two basic choices in life and business in regards to the media.  Learn how to use the media to benefit you and your business, or you can decide to know nothing about it and let it use you. Which it is very good at doing. 

So I will start to help you by introducing you to the person you need to know. May surprise you. Then in our ongoing lessons of learning business from the master entrepreneur, indeed I will tell you that the infamous Pilate got two things very right.  And you need to know those two things.  And let me tell you the story of my friend Scruffy the homely little cardinal that visit to my home every day.  I have come to love Scruffy ... Just 20 minutes for all this good stuff.

We have a bit of a strange collection of ideas but they all might be helpful. And this is weird, could it be that if you get an organ transplant that you could also get part of the donors personality. What's that all about.  And should you get ready for a recession.?  And one of the ways is to get better organized and may I suggest an update of the old fashion but effective To Do List.  And when times are tough it's hard to make a sale to get the business, and so perhaps I should share with you one of my classic lessons being updated entitled, would you like to know how Jesus sells.  In 20 minutes I will challenge you, maybe even entertain you, and perhaps you can make some changes that will be better for you.  Interesting ideas indeed.

On Sunday night I always plan to have a great start to Monday.  But from years of experience I now know that many people use Monday to send some bad messages.  So can I tell you a little bit about that and how you can prepare for that.  And one of my mentors, I never met or knew but I read stories from his legacy and he reminded me that one of the keys to success in life is to know that everything that happened to you can be useful to you and that you can learn from it.  Both good and bad things.

So I enjoyed the pictures from the Webb telescope but then I also learned something again that was significant Life and business and may I tell you the story.  Just 20 easy minutes.  Thanks

 I always have a Sunday night meeting with myself my spirit perhaps with God and it's usually very private. But there is some things tonight I'd like to share with you that came into my life and if you'll give me about 20 minutes I'd like to talk about the incredible stupidity of the Dutch been told by their government that they should not grow as much food as they are. 

And some of the stories from the war are almost unbelievable. And then a young Jewish Dutch woman, something like Anne Frank, who writes thoughts and prayers on her way to the death camp. Who in her prayers to God talks about how rich she is.  And if you care enough about learning from a true spirit heart you'll listen.  Thanks

It seems that one of the major goals of people in our culture and society today is the desire to retire. To be able to stop working and just live a comfortable and enjoyable life in the last years of their life.  But what if you can't do that for a variety of reasons.  Does that make you peculiar in a bad sort of way? 

Well I'd like to think a little more positively if I can because I know that a lot of people are in that situation, and I also know that a lot of people who are retired are finding that it's not quite the paradise or all the good things they expected it to be.  What should they do.  So I wish you were with me in the studio and we could talk about that but at least here you have my part of the conversation, and I would be grateful if you would respond with your part of the conversation.  So whatever let's remember that in the end it can be, all will be well
