Yes that is what he told me. But don't worry I know it's not true. However I can tell you that there are a lot of people in the media today who believe exactly what he said. The world has always been full of "elites" in leadership and in the media who think they are the smartest people in the world and that you're not. 

So with your permission may I share a little truth and a suggestion on how you can recognize and perhaps become a unique, different, wise, and maybe even a truly very smart PECULIAR person.  Yes being peculiar is one of the goals!  Some peculiar ideas for your thought and consideration on this Thursday.

Yes I know some of you are upset with me. You read the title and you wonder what in the world is that all about.  But right now you're too busy and so you are conflicted about passing on the program or taking time to listen to it now or later.  Well if you want to hear the story you have to listen for a while.  And of course it is a profoundly sad story.  But like every good story even though it is sad there are many things that we can learn from it and perhaps some things we need to pray about or do something about.

And then I want to just introduce you to the interesting idea from an old boy, and adventure who talks about paying the hard and painful and lonely price of being able "To Own Yourself."  So if you will take just 15 minutes you will discover that on this program you do indeed learn more by accident than most places by design.

We are having some fun this week and at the same time thinking deeply about life and business. We're talking about being peculiar.  Unfortunately the world is full of people who want power, and Vladimir Putin just wanted the latest ones, and there are a lot more they just right now we're not quite as dangerous.  And we have to keep smiling and challenging because in too many cases the leaderships in our world are dominated by halfwits and hypocrites. Now I have your attention.

And I'm going to tell you a story about a peculiar individual who and given the chance to be a leader to be a king, turned away from it and said that's not my game.   And perhaps we need to be peculiar enough to actually run away from power and to understand that true real personal power that can be world changing and shaking is when you know an d are smart enough to have no power.  So let that sit on your head for a while but you have to take 15 minutes to hear the details and feel the story.

 that's right, maybe you ought to be at least a little bit peculiar. Or maybe in my case maybe more than a little bit.  So today I'm going to begin a week of making a case for being peculiar and it's because in over 40+ years of teaching, broadcasting and performance coaching I have discovered there are two words that you want to use all the time in describing you and your business. And there are two words that you want other people to use a lot when they describe you and their business.

Do you know what they are or would you like to find out. Please keep in mind that if you're truly one of the smart ones you will take 15 minutes to listen to the program.  As one of my close friends said when times are tough, that's good because then you have to get smart and be smarter.

 In my many years as a broadcaster and as a business performance coach I have found how helpful and useful it is to go back and remember our first loves. And then take those long ago memories from the past and see if they can be a guide to what we want to do in the future that's before us, before it's too late. 

So I invite you to join me as I reminisce and tell stories about first loves, and I believe that in these 20 minutes you might find something that will help you a lot and perhaps give you some courage to do what you should've done years ago, and that is to follow or at least be guided by our FIRST LOVES.

Yes I can't help but wonder if things could've been different or perhaps not quite so bad.  And the story from Texas continues to be worse. More and more we are in difficult times and there are no heroes or real leaders to help us, at least it seems to me.  And so on this Thursday I wanna take a little happier note and talk about good songs.

Remember everybody should have a song, a favorite song, their song ... A song they will sing at your service that will make people smile.  Well her name was Judy and her life was not very sometimes, but she still sang the song that is very important to us all.  Here's why we should remember it and hope that we are in touch with the life force that can truly help us reach all our SOMEWHERE.

My grandson was here over the Fourth of July weekend and one of the books we read was my favorite. It was Marvin K Mooney will you please go now. And I love the light... The time has come the time is now.  Tragedy continues regards to the shooting and we now know that it could've been prevented just like it could've been prevented in Uvalde. 

And so perhaps we need to concede that we need some help and we don't have the answers and maybe we better find some men and women who demonstrate strength, courage, in the spirit of force and fearlessness to begin to show us the way.  And we. will start with Jesus who will tell us how to be great entrepreneurs and how to make the sale.

 Unfortunately the Independence Day celebration in the USA was marked by a series of shooting tragedies.  And ironically it happened about two weeks after a major gun reform law was passed.  So we are reminded that we seem almost helpless to solve the problem.  But remember that most political solutions are illusions. 

Perhaps it might help to learn about rotten apples.  So we will start there, but we will end up with YOU.  Remember that all of my programs are for you and about you and designed to help you if I can... And unfortunately this mass shooter just like the many have no source of what is vital in life, and that is to learn how to be fully alive.  Please give me 15 minutes to see if you can learn something and perhaps do something that might be useful to you.   

The July 4 holiday is a good time to take a time out, a halftime, and do a little reflection on your life. And so for about 15 minutes I'd like to tell you about the Edsels in my life.  Yes that car of many years ago which is the poster project huge failure.  The very day the Edsel came out I was there and I remember it well.  So that will be the story and then perhaps to see if I can draw a few life lessons from the famous failure of the Ford Motor Company.  And just remember that all of the present hype about electric cars is nothing compared to the hype there was in the car of the future = Edsel.  So join me if I try to do a little life lessons from the story of the Edsel and then I'm going to introduce you to a wonderful program that is coming to What it Takes Radio ... For those of you who love cars and route 66 you are in for a real treat.

Yes the old song from Peggy Lee reminds us that indeed we need to have a good and healthy heart.  And I've been thinking about that a lot because  just 10 minutes before I put this program together on this future day Friday I picked up my wife who just had a major heart procedure that will save her life.  And I cannot believe how grateful I am and that there are millions of people in the world who do not have access to the healthcare that I have, who would just suffer and die.  So can I share some heartfelt thoughts about taking care of my heart and being grateful...

And that's a good thing to do right now because right now in 22 we are at half time and so take some time this weekend to think how you're gonna live with heartfelt gratitude and power and energy to make the second half of the year a far better year for you and the ones you love.
