He told me that he could never get a job because he had a terrible résumé. Life has been difficult and he has done some foolish things. But now he was trying to start over and he knew that all of the advice about a résumé was not very helpful for him. I had just pointed out to people that one of the best ideas for seeking a new opportunity is to very simply, tear up your résumé.
And I mean that in a new and interesting way. In fact I would tell a college graduate that you probably have nothing of value on the résumé so do it a different way. Those are some of the interesting ideas that Stan, that's me, has for you today on Interesting Ideas
In the introduction to our new program idea I'm going to challenge you with an idea that many people have which I think is a bad idea maybe even a lie. Give me 15 minutes in this new addition of what we do to tell you about the power of interesting ideas and that we want you to be a part of that program.
And could it be that the people who gave us fake news are now going to give us fear news. Could it be the idea that we have to deal with is the modern media is now always seeking to keep us afraid and fearful. Do you have some ideas about how to deal with that. That's the new show for today. There's a place for you in it.
Please join me in taking 20 minutes to learn some new and important things, I hope and think about what it might take to make it in the post Covid recovery and in the new economy that's before us. I was asked to give seven ideas that I would share with any new graduate ... So with your permission I'll give you the first three and you can go from there if you think it's important. But what is most important is that you think about that yourself and perhaps share it with others so that all of us can share in the wisdom insight and truth that we all possess.
And as you will discover this is not conventional advice because I start by saying, new graduate get yourself a truck because it's useful and that's a good thing to have and to be. Here's the story and I think you'll enjoy it.
This is a wonderful story and a lesson for all of us. He brings to life the question we all ask. "I wonder if I should keep doing this" or "Maybe I should do something else". And there's another question he asked, "I wonder if I could do that". And then when someone asked him to do something that he had never done before, he had the courage to say, "Yeah I can do that". Just take 30 minutes to listen to this wonderful story and it will be life challenging for you. I guarantee it.
Indeed if pain or water the world would drown and there is so much pain in the world. But if you don't deal with your pain you will pass it on. So do that and then learn the seven other P words that are vital for you to be able to build your own starship enterprise in the post Covid Creator economy. This program is vital, listen to it three times and then share it with three people and talk about how you can be the Kirk Spock and the McCoy to boldly go where you've never gone before.
Well it's the last day of April. Did you know that April is Poetry month. And I am the producer of a growing and growing worldwide podcast called The Cowboy Up Podcast. We have all kinds of stories about cowboys horses and the western way of life and it is broadcast from the White Stallion Guest Ranch in Tucson Arizona. And as part of that world I did a program with one of the famous cowboy poets and we enjoyed it so much and we learned so much that I thought I would share it with you. This is really fun.
I love it when you have a fun and rough and ready renaissance man for a friend. My friend David is one of those guys. First rate pilot of a variety of airplanes, a man who is incredibly wise in terms of the financial services and how to ensure your business and care for your family and your life. And a prominent Catholic University has named him as one of their top alumni and with all that he can also tell you about the value and the virtues of enhancing his life and business by going through silent retreats. Here's the story.
That's right, hIs many friends in Athens Tennessee listen to him and call him on the radio Uncle Bob. And Stan is called the SpokesMan by the many business folks and clients who ask him to speak up for their business Radio and television.
And they are long time friends who have been on the radio for many years. And they may not have songs to sing but they sure have some stories to tell. So why don't you join them for a little reminiscing down Old Fashion Radio Lane. And as always we never quite know what they'll talk about because they don't know either.
I have been so busy helping other people launch their podcast that I have not had the time nor the ability to actually practice what I preach and perform well in my own podcasting efforts. However I'm seeking to do better and I'd like to invite you to find ways that we can all do better In these times which are not going to be better or as better as we had hoped. There is too much dysfunction and corruption in so many systems. But if you'll give me a little over 12 minutes I'd like to suggest some things that we all could do to help us do better and do it now.
Internet on demand radio is now officially a billion $ industry...Well Internet on demand radio is podcasting. And for years it's been a weird hobby and then it went main stream and most suspected that it would stream out. That did not happen it is now a billion $ industry, and if you want to do business in the future you have to take it seriously. I know the industry and I can tell you how I can help you do just that because I was one of the pioneers in the whole show.
Then I do some reflecting on the zoom phenomenon. A year ago hardly anyone had ever heard of zoom. Now it's everywhere but Unfortunately many people hate it and you hear the expression zoom sucks. If you'll give me just a little time this evening I'll bring the two things together and teach you how you can make your zoom work so that it really does work for you rather than alienate and bore people to death....Just a lot like Easter, some new beginnings and new ideas begin right here on this Easter Monday evening.
