Growing up in South America, Mendoza Loor rode horses and taught students at his father’s farm in Ecuador. In 2006 he and his wife Jessica started training together, and they moved to the United States in 2007. Mendoza Loor has trained numerous horses to the Grand Prix level, including Ivan, to date the only Friesian to compete at the Pan American Games, Chardonney, his partner at the 2015 Pan American Games and 2018 World Equestrian Games and current star Jewel’s Goldstrike. He specializes in piaffe and passage training as well as the art of long lining. Mendoza Loor, his wife and their three children currently reside just outside of Tryon, North Carolina.
