Into the Pray episodes

  • Who Are The Scottish Family Party? (feat. Richard Lucas)

    Greetings everyone!

[Quick notice: We have a new film in the pipeline, a piece of content that we have no doubt is extremely important for the Body of Christ at large. We're needing some help with the practicalities/financial costs associated, so if you would like to help with this, to make it happen, and get more info ahead of release, please feel free to drop us a line. We very much value your interest/support.]

This is an additional, impromptu episode of Into the Pray this week because The 2021 Scottish Parliament election will be held on 6 May 2021 with voting starting from 7am on Thursday morning.

You may have heard of the disgraceful state of affairs with regard to not only the Scottish Nationalist Party's (SNP) ineptitude regarding education in general - and, specifically, numeracy and literacy levels - but also the appalling "sex education" that is given to our children as young as 5-11 years of age in Scottish primary schools. The likes of Derek Mackay's symptomatic and tolerated behaviour is arguably the tip of a very dark, demonic iceberg.

Ergo, we wanted to do what we can to help The Scottish Family Party who are a blazing torch of biblical morality (and for those of no faith, ie just basic common sense) amidst a very dark (political) world. Hence, it was great to meet in this episode with their leader, Richard Lucas.

You can see their policies here and ways to get involved here.

Before listening/watching this episode of Into the Pray, please spend a few minutes looking at the SFP's website and, in particular, the bewilderingly bad "sex education" given to our children. See what we mean here.

John Knox would turn in his grave if that was a thing.

Thank you again to Richard for your time, sir.

This is the next instalment in our study through the book of 1 Corinthians.

Having finished chapter 7 last week, we come now to the next significant section beginning at chapter 8 and going on for the next 3 chapters.

How is Paul's main priority of the Church being 'built up in love' put at risk by the issue of eating food sacrificed to idols?

Why are vv1-3 important to focus on before vv4-13?

How are you growing in this kind of knowledge of love that builds up rather than puffs up?

  • Discussing Ecumenicalism (feat. Joshua Lewis/Remnant Radio)

This week we're delighted to meet with Joshua Lewis from Remnant Radio who, as an independent podcast/YouTube channel, publish three weekly episodes of their cross-denominational content to a growing audience of hungry theology-minded fellows.

We asked if Joshua would come onto Into the Pray to discuss the merits of ecumenicalism which, as they put it, is intended to "destabilise theological echo chambers" unto both learning and faithfulness.

We love what they say in their blurb.

"We do not endorse all the various guests we have on the show. However, we do believe a healthy dialogue with those whom we disagree with is a necessary Christian virtue that is not displayed often enough."

In and amongst all of this is the radical preparation of a faithful Bride and, as an integral part of this, we must all take responsibility for our discernment as to what is biblical, objectively true and that which is not. We are surely at a critical juncture in church history!

Next Friday we'll be starting a new mini-series entitled, "The Church in the Home".

So, sit back with a coffee and listen to Nick and Joshua chatting about the Church.

Normally at this stage of the week we would be joined by Dave Brennan of Brephos for our regular weekly podcast regarding abortion and other subjects relating to fertility.

However, today we wanted to  enter in to an extended time of prayer as we have mentioned several times that we would! Our plan is to do this more frequently in the months ahead so look out for more times of prayer coming up.

We trust that this episode of Into the Pray will serve to fuel your own growing fire of prayer at this critical juncture in Church history.

Here is a short and very basic video that we put together 7 years go not long after we married.

Look out for Nick's conversation with Joshua Lewis from Remnant Radio this coming Friday. You can also watch this via our YouTube Channel here.

Welcome to the next episode of Into the Pray and our series in 1 Corinthians called City of Temples.

This week we finish up in chapter 7 by focusing on vv 32-40 with reference back to last week's session and vv 29-31(a).

Do you ever experience anxiety? Or do you ever find it difficult to trust God with issues of your  heart? We all do.

Paul had a loving burden for the Corinthians to be free from anxiety and, positively put, to know the deep, abiding shalom of God.

Please see here for our four-part film series on mental health and faith (The Bothy Sessions) and, specifically, here for Nick's own testimony relating to anxiety. You can find more info on this project here.

May this bless you all deeply in Jesus' Name.

  • 5 Hard Truths About Christian Community (feat. Nick & Mairi Franks)

    Hello Everyone!

This week on Into the Pray, we're starting to broach the sensitive subject of nurturing Christian  community.

Next  Friday we'll be starting to look more closely at a book together, "Creating Community", by David Prior.

We want to give a number of weeks to this important area because of the ongoing crossroads that many people find themselves at in terms of not knowing what to do - and how to resolve - the sense of compromise where they live & worship and the absence of a faithful community option to move for.

We'll be dealing with these realities as wisely and sensitively as we can throughout the month of May 2021.

You can find out more about the JesusCome! online community here.

  • The Church & Vaccine Passports (feat. Dave Brennan)

    Greetings All!

This week's mid-week session of Into the Pray with Dave Brennan of Brephos is a momentary pause in our ongoing conversation about abortion and IVF.

We'll be returning to IVF next week and then the issue of contraception after that but, for this week, Nick and Dave discuss the general posture of the Church with regard to things like vaccine passports.

Please sit back with a coffee and a prayerful heart as we endeavour to hear a true prophetic voice at this hour.

First and foremost, we are all people of God, sons and daughters of the Coming King, not abortion activists.

  • 1 Corinthians (part 21)

    Greetings, All!

This is our next session in the book of 1 Corinthians and one that strikes us as being particularly poignant as we resume our journey and come now to virtually the halfway point of this book.

While dealing with engaged couples and widows, is there any wonder that Paul injects this radical "eschatological awareness" at this point in his letter? Of course not!

In the words of David Prior,

“Perhaps it is more than time for Christians to ask themselves questions which demand even more radical answers on the basis of Paul’s teaching in this chapter.”

If this was true in 1985, how much more true is this today?

Beloved Church, we must watch and pray and be prepared to make radical changes to our lives, in His wisdom and grace.

You can see some footage of the power kite I mention today in this video here. (This is my showreel for my tent-making work so please forward it to anyone who may be interested!).

  • Sad on Easter Morning? (feat. Nick Franks)

This morning on Into the Pray - this Easter Sunday morning  - I wanted to drop a quick word of testimony about how Easter morning often feels to me, based, in part, on what I see in the Church at large.

In Luke 24, Mary Magdalene, Joanna and Mary were met by an angelic vision and were encouraged to remember. Remember what? Jesus' words in Luke 19 about His suffering and death on a cross. What joy in remembering the words spoken by Jesus.

Later on in the same chapter, Cleopas and his friend were told by Jesus to remember. Remember what? The words of all the prophets throughout the ages.

For us all this morning, if our hearts are truly set on pilgrimage, we may not initially wake and 'feel' brimming resurrection joy as these women did, as Peter did running to the tomb (Luke 24:12) or as the disciples did on the road to Emmaus. (Luke 24:13-35).

If only we had an encounter with some angels! If only we could run to see His neatly folded linen cloths! If only we could go for a Sunday walk/Bible study with Jesus!

But, just like the women in this 24th chapter of Luke, we do have Jesus' perfectly prophetic words to remember! We do have an empty tomb to go and see, we do have solid prophetic hope.

This is why Luke 21 is so important to remember as we go into another day, month and year.

As John Chyrsostom said, "For the Christian it is always Christmas, always Easter, always Penetecost."

I hope this is an encouragement to you this morning. You can watch the video here.

  • Discerning Doctrines of Demons (feat. Nick Franks)

    Greetings, Compadres!

In this week's special Good Friday episode of Into the Pray, you're about to listen to the recorded audio from our Friday Night LIVE community session together from last week.

If you would like to be involved in our JesusCome! community, please see here.

Mairi and I have been due to make a film about what I shared on Friday and, Lord willing, we'll still be able to do that into the summer.

However, we felt it was right to make public at this stage what we had become overwhelmed by as 2020 drew to a close and as 2021 began in earnest - i.e. the proliferation in the Church of the doctrines of demons. (1 Timothy 4:1-2).

Please sit back and listen to what is my very best to convey what I am persuaded (personally and corporately) is the emphasis of the Lord's heart for this year and beyond.
