There’s nothing technically wrong in the patient education scenario above, but we can all see it’s not very effective.  It’s no surprise many patients leave thinking they’re going blind from some sort of degenerative disease called a stigma. Sounds awful of course.

That’s where Dr. Ryan Corte and his team of optometrists, ophthalmologists, and opticians comes in.  IntroEyes is a start-up based on patient friendly video education with clear, easy to understand summaries of some of the most common ocular conditions and complaints. The idea is impressively simple: create quality videos that doctors can use to reinforce their in office discussions that meet the technical standards we need since they are recorded by experts in the field. And this is a team effort where all disciplines of eyecare get involved for the benefit of the patient.    It’s great to see young optometrist, ophthalmologists, and opticians teaming up on a project together and uniting all aspects of eyecare into a cohesive community. No surprise that Dr. Corte took home the grand prize in this year’s start-up competition by the Skimm.
