One of the things that I asked all of my clients in our first session is how they can step into their power in their birth. My client said something to me that I had not heard before, and I loved it. She said that she didn’t know how to answer that question fully because she felt like she was already stepping into her power by preparing for her birth, the way that she was, I truly could not have loved that answer more, and that is what inspired this episode.

Shelby helps moms feel toned, strong, and more confident in their bodies. She helps them find realistic ways to get to their goals and love their bodies through strength training. She coaches them out of the all or nothing mindset and helps them find what will work for them!
Her story:
When I first had my son, my life was thrown upside down. Any sort of routine went out the window and it was a serious struggle physically and mentally. I was tired. I had no energy. And I didn’t even recognize myself or my body. I was just so desperate to get back to how I looked and felt pre-pregnancy.
But I realized that in order for me to be the best mom and wife I could be, I needed to take care of me, not just physically, but mentally too. I needed to feel good and confident in my body so I could show up fully for my family and in all areas of my life.
Once I did that, once I started fueling my body properly, once I got back into picking up the weights, that’s when everything changed.
And now, even as a mom of 3, it's EASY for me to stay consistent with working out and eating healthy and my relationship with food and my body is in such a better place.
And I feel so lucky that I've been able to help sooooo many other women get to the same exact place too.

I start all my clients with these journal prompts and here is why. This is the foundation to all the other work that we do together. My clients swear by this step and find themselves coming back to these feelings at different points in their pregnancy and labor.

Last week I was feeling super overwhelmed

is real and raw and vulnerable so listen in.
Nicole had a traumatic first birth experience where she was admitted early due to her water breaking, put on Pitocin, and fled to an emergency cesarean where she was put under, hemorrhaged, and had to meet her son for the first time on FaceTime. When she got pregnant 6 months later she was so scared, and knew she needed additional support. She hired me as her doula and prenatal coach. Through the work she did in therapy and with me, she was able to DECIDE how she wanted to feel this time and keep that top of mind as things were thrown her way around 32 weeks into her pregnancy. Listen to hear how she turned her less than ideal circumstances into a healing and empowering experience.

Danielle had only heard horror stories about birth. She did not even think it was possible to NOT be scared during the process. She knew she could get through it like a hard night at the restaurant.
After her eyes were opened that less mainstream options were available she began down a much different path. She hired a doula for the birth and then met me. When I spoke heavily about addressing how you want to FEEL in birth, she knew she needed to work with me.
With the knowledge she gained from our work together and from resources I pointed her towards, she was able to go from terrified to actually EXCITED to give birth. She was even able to navigate a couple different bumps in the road along the way when faced with choices that did not feel right in her gut.

Regardless of how you choose to feed your baby, you deserve to CHOOSE. Not be pressured or guilted or misled by information that simply is not common knowledge or not true.
We dig into the evidence based information on the need/reasons for supplementation, blood sugar, what interferes with the breastfeeding relationship and much. more. These are things you likely are not hearing from your doctor or pediatrician, but deserve to know.
