July 17, 2019The Luton Peace Day Riots July 1919At the end of the First World War promises from the British Government to build a land fit for heroes failed to materialise. Luton ex-servicemen unhappy with unemployment and other grievances, particularly the high handed attitude of Mayor Henry Impey, took matters into their own hands. In the ensuing riots Luton Town Hall was burned down. Scotsman Stewart came relatively late to music discovering the art of guitar and song writing well beyond the first flush of youth. Neil had been playing electric guitar in various bands for many years as well as being proficient on violin, mandolin and banjo.
