Welshman Mike Carter-Jones is a singer/guitarist and prolific songwriter, Liverpool's Mike Nacey is a talented instrumentalist on tenor guitar and mandolin. Now based in Bedfordshire (England) both are a long way from their roots but are still enjoying the music they make. They are an experienced duo mixing folk and jazz influences at local acoustic sessions and folk clubs. In our session Mike C-J performs some of his songs and Mike N plays some beautifully arranged instrumental pieces.

In a return to the successful '3 Songwriters' format host Jon Bickley invited David Gunawardana and Martin Olyett to the studio. The guys had lots of new material to play and discuss. Dissecting songwriters' methods can tell us much about how some people perceive and interpret the world around them and turn that view into a musical artform. In our small way Invisible Folk Club are trying to see behind the curtain and achieve a deeper understanding. We’ll continue to dissect more songwriters!

Of The Clay are Joe Potter & Niamh Bury, they sing traditional folk songs or songs in the traditional idiom. They have recently moved to Dublin but when Invisible Folk visited they were still living in north Norfolk, the land of low horizons and big skies. Singer/composer Peter Bellamy, a man who spent his formative years in Norfolk, is clearly a significant influence. The music we captured in this session is beautifully arranged, the performances are mesmerising and intense.

Her finely tuned songwriting is sometimes so convincing that you'll believe it's a traditional song. Things really began to take off with her first EP ‘By Way of Night’ in 2018 attracting many positive reviews and radio plays. Odette's first full length album ‘The Wildest Rose’ will be out in April 2019 and features contributions from Phil Beer (Show of Hands) and Toby Shaer.
