Irish Breakdown

Cornerback went from being a major question mark to an elite position group in a short period of time. That is largely due to the recruiting and developing talent of position coach Mike Mickens. We break down Notre Dame's 2025 class, how unique what Mickens has done the last four years and why cornerback could get even better in the future.

Notre Dame's cornerback room was outstanding in 2023, but the unit has a chance to be even better in 2024. Of course, that will require Benjamin Morrison to stay healthy and for the depth to be cemented. Bryan is joined by Brian Smith to break it down, and during the discussion they explain why it's so important that the Irish be strong at that position.

Notre Dame has had some brilliant offensive lines in the last decade, some units that struggled and everything in between. In the final segment of today's show, Bryan ranks the last 10 offensive lines (2014-2023) from 10th to 1st. He goes over the criteria for each line, including stats, film analysis and how they performed in big moments. It was a fun discussion, check it out! He then discussed where the 2024 line could fit into that group, from a floor and ceiling standpoint.

Notre Dame's lack of experience is a concern for the 2024 line, but the fact so many young players are poised to return for multiple seasons moving forward combines with strong recruiting from Joe Rudolph to paint a very bright future. Bryan looks at the future of the line, and what the 2024 season will tell us about just how good it can be.

The latest Irish Breakdown show discussed the Notre Dame offensive line from a present and future standpoint. In part one, Bryan looks at the present of the line. How good will the line be in 2024? The battle of talent vs experience will be key, and the position battles that are still going on will be key as well. After a big picture discussion the conversation then turns specific as he breaks down the individual parts of the line and goes over areas that should be strong, and what questions remain.

* After the announcement that Notre Dame’s season-opener at Texas A&M on Aug. 31 is going to be a 7:30 pm Eastern Time prime time kickoff, Over/Under 4.5 other games on Notre Dame’s schedule this season that will also be prime time games.

* Fill-in the blank…Notre Dame men’s basketball getting a commitment today from 6-10 grad transfer forward Nikita Konstantynovskyi is BLANK.

* The Cleveland Browns will also host the Dallas Cowboys in a 4:25 pm opening weekend kickoff. What’s more significant...that it’s Browns-Cowboys or that it will be Tom Brady’s first game as a broadcaster with Fox?
