Irish Breakdown

IB Nation Sports Talk's Sean Stires and Vince DeDario start today's show with thoughts on how they feel about Notre Dame football with a week to go until the spring-ending Blue-Gold Game. Other topics include:

* Thoughts on Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman and defensive line coach Al Washington popping up on ESPN's list of 30 coaches who will define the next decade of college football.

* According to Dane Brugler’s draft evaluation of Sam Hartman, the former Irish quarterback had 24 career fumbles. But you would have to do deep research on that since it’s not an official statistic. Do you Buy or Sell fumbles and/or dropped passes being an official statistic?

* Fill-in the blank...It’s BLANK that after there were some internet rumors this week that Hannah Hidalgo was possibly going to transfer. She posted a video on Tik Tok and Instagram last night of her with her head coach Niele Ivey. They were laughing and smiling, and Hidalgo said on the post – I’m not in the transfer portal Y’all.

* Fill-in the blank...It’s BLANK that Kentucky has hired an alum, Mark Pope, who has never won an NCAA Tournament game, to replace John Calipari as their basketball coach.

* Which does men’s college basketball miss more: big name coaches like Mike Krzyzewski, Jim Boeheim and Roy Williams or star players?

* When you go to the store how likely are you to use the self-checkout line vs going to the line with the cashier?

An article at Sports Illustrated recently ranked Notre Dame behind USC and Oklahoma from an all-time standpoint. I discuss this and point out why it's an incredibly flawed analysis of where Notre Dame stands all-time.
